Forgotten
she had talked about jumping
off the diving board at school
she had thought about cutting
the tags off of her clothes
she had spoken about pills
to help her rash disappear
she had wondered about the rope
the swing looked like it could break any day
but it wasn't until her mom
said goodbye
her sister could not
her brother forgot
and her best friend never could
that the marks started showing up
on her wrists
and she took a few seconds longer
as she crossed the bridge home
and she used her allowance
to buy her a couple of colorful capsules
and she took the rope from the shed
and hid it in her closet
to think of a time
when she wasn't haunted
or reminded
to a day
when the sun comes up
but no longer shines
and the girl writes a list
of people that would cry
but crumples the paper up
and throws it away
blank
along with her mind
she is alone
in an unforgiving world
she decides
that it is her turn to say goodbye
to finally be forgiven
