Mouse and Viper
I am the quiet church mouse
That scurries behind large wooden pews
Scared of other people's shadows
Content with silence
I am the quiet church mouse
And you are the viper spiting venom at the alter
You spit a string of curses
And they're all directed toward me
You tell me to put my paws up
Because it's a big world out there
And this world has no room
For small little brown mice
I flinch with every poisonous vowel
I feel tears prick at my eyes
And after you let your toxin sink in
You leave a bitter taste in my mouth
I watch and you slither your way pass me
Bearing shiny fangs and vivid scales
Shivers run down my spine
And there is silence once again
That scurries behind large wooden pews
Scared of other people's shadows
Content with silence
I am the quiet church mouse
And you are the viper spiting venom at the alter
You spit a string of curses
And they're all directed toward me
You tell me to put my paws up
Because it's a big world out there
And this world has no room
For small little brown mice
I flinch with every poisonous vowel
I feel tears prick at my eyes
And after you let your toxin sink in
You leave a bitter taste in my mouth
I watch and you slither your way pass me
Bearing shiny fangs and vivid scales
Shivers run down my spine
And there is silence once again
