Can You Explain Love?

Can you explain love?
Are you sure?
It's definition boggles
The well being of
The heart
The feelings of
The beholder
And the oppression of
The broken

Love lingers in the mind
With uncertainty..
Springing rebellious thoughts
Opening covert doors
Birthing the logic
Of a dream
That could
But probably isn't meant
To be reality

Love is the opposite
Of what is expected..
It is betrayal by freedom,
Death by life,
War by peace,
Cruelty by trust,
Any and everything
Replaced with
None and nothing

Love is hypocritical
You can be promised
That love will stay
But when you need it most,
Love is gone
In the blink of an eye
In a matter of seconds
Leaving no marks or traces
As if it was never there

But then,
If you can stay long enough,
Love is kind
And passionate to all
It is Life's greatest gift
And luxury
It cares and is considered
Perfect love
When it is all that is expected

Love knows when to
Put pride aside
And let hate go..
It can be strong
And yet, so fragile..
It can last for
Almost an eternity
And still be obliterated
Within a matter of days

Is it harder to
Understand now?
How painful heartbreak
Can be
After something
That felt so true
So right
And So good
Crashed before you eyes?

Is your vision clear yet?
Can you see now
That love isn't at all
What you've expected?
That even through happiness,
Peace, and trust,
Hate, war, and abuse
Can still occur
And destroy?

Now is it easy to explain?
Knowing the many things
That love can be
All at one time?
Knowing the things
You go through to get it
And how quickly
And easily
It is broken?

Are you still so sure about love?
With the thought of Its character,
Its opposites in meaning,
Its pain
Through dedication,
And its mood when
Betrayed
Or when it is
Betraying?

Still think you can explain love?
Nope...I didn't think so..
