The Matador
Someday,
you don't have to fight bulls
or dance with death
in that old world Spanish arena
under the judgement
of those beautiful-supertitious people
with big, dark, piercing eyes
while under the harsh sun of Madrid
Instead, you'll be with me
and we'll go around Spain
or around the world if you please
to see where the sun
shines the sweetest
then we'll built a love nest there
so that everynight
we can be under
the stars and the moonlight...
I'll be your lady matador
in scarlet lace undergarment
then you'll be my bull-lover,
riding you as hard as I can--
para el resto de nuestras vidas...
(for the rest of our lives...)
Believe me,
we can make all of this happen
Only you dont know me,
yet...
you don't have to fight bulls
or dance with death
in that old world Spanish arena
under the judgement
of those beautiful-supertitious people
with big, dark, piercing eyes
while under the harsh sun of Madrid
Instead, you'll be with me
and we'll go around Spain
or around the world if you please
to see where the sun
shines the sweetest
then we'll built a love nest there
so that everynight
we can be under
the stars and the moonlight...
I'll be your lady matador
in scarlet lace undergarment
then you'll be my bull-lover,
riding you as hard as I can--
para el resto de nuestras vidas...
(for the rest of our lives...)
Believe me,
we can make all of this happen
Only you dont know me,
yet...

Matador!
Your ability to paint great pictures with words is commendable. In this short prose you were able to entertain, lure and frighten. You even made me envy whoever is your lover.
You frightened me when I see you all dressed up "in lace scarlet undergarment," a matador posing at the arena and I, the silly bull coming after the scarlet colour and you taunt me again and again till you finally get it done with.
Your works reveal things about you and it makes me love not just the work...

This is so vivid. The air it creates is so thick with danger and mystery but it wraps round you and draws you in...like the sirens from the Greek myths.

Death, a hint of prayer, some sex to spice, and a wished kiss...your cooking is powerful...

I really like the ending. It's a shocker. Nice to see a poem that has a bit of a twist. :)

I'm hoping you'll go back...
...& look at this again, because it's a fine write deserving of tweaks to make it great. And I don't mean the typo in L6 or the unnecessary translation provided. I think the last 4 lines may not be required - they could even be the start of another poem entirely!
Here's a kwik alternative, hope it generates a few ideas for you.
Someday,
you won't have to fight bulls
or dance with death
in that olde world Spanish arena
under the judgement
of big, dark, piercing eyes
those beautiful, superstitious people
and the harsh sun of Seville
Instead, you'll be with me
consuming Spain
or around the world if you please
We'll find where the sun shines sweetest
build our love nest there
so every night we can feed
on moonlight, stars and dreams
I'll be your lady matador
in scarlet lace underwear
you'll be my bull-lover
riding to forever
as hard as we can
para el resto de nuestras vidas...
Please feel free to smack, or ignore (s'all equal to me)
Best ~ Abra

wow! i think i like your version better... but this poem i kinda wrote this from a dream and i was totally dream writing when i wrote it, hence the lack of edge, just pure haziness...
hmmm, I would totally consider your suggestions for they are really good...
but lemme sleep on it first, and see if my subconscious would agree!
thank you though Abra! :)

this is a fine, evocative poem - thats paints different pictures and creates differing moods as it progresses.
really enjoyed it..
I can chime with you in your last comment about keeping it as it is.
