Hello there
 
Do you recognise me now that your eyes are clear of the
tears that misted them? Do you know who you’re smiling at now that your mouth
is no longer twisted in bitterness? Do you remember my voice now that you can
hear more than hatred and rejection? Do you remember me?
 
I thought not.
 
I am the person who hugged you tight and told you that
everything would be alright. We both knew it wouldn’t be, but you nodded and
smiled and felt better, hearing me lie to you.
 
I am the person that sat you down on the bed and held you as
you shook and cried, confused and out of your depth, and told you to not give
up. You smiled again and thanked me.
 
I am the person that was always ready to listen to you as
you ranted about another injustice the world had delivered to you. We agreed
the world was unfair, and laughed as we said we’d be freaks together.
 
I am the person that is indestructible, and I will take all
your problems and solve them for you so that you can be free to live.
 
I am the person that will say ‘I love you’ when you need to
hear it, and will never let you think for a second that you’re worthless.
 
I am the person that will care more deeply than you could
ever fathom, always keeping an eye on you even when I can’t be with you.
 
I am the person that will watch you skip away, laughing, as
I return to my empty room and wonder where my comfort is.
 
I am the person that was there for you every step of the
way.
 
I am the person that you just threw away.
