Every Vote Counts

What?

No political elation?

No, slammin’ vowels
and consonants together
to celebrate  this election?

A winners pride stops counting the favored balance
as compassion peers out to measure the self-licking loser

Look
we’ve got to forget
all the hard sharp lines
and start playing catch with
water balloons and awkward smiles,

pull our hands out of our selves
and reach for the honest good of others
