Eyes In The Window
They peer at me each night. While other monsters prowl, this one creeps under the pale moon's light. Those hollow, sunken eyes that watch me sleep. The eyes in the window, staring in my life so deep. When I wake, I see them. Hoping my eyes are unfaithful, I wish it to be a mistake. It's just an illusion, that's what I've come to believe. But instead, it's an intrusion. He comes to haunt me, to break me inside. And though I'm in my room, i'm still not safe, even when I hide. but in a blink of an eye, he's gone. To this day, I tell no one of the eyes in the window that come each night. Perhaps one day he'll take me, and i'll be gone before it's light.
