Clockwork Soul

laid before this ashen night upon a crystal
plate, neatly stacked and eagerly filed
all of this souls most charming lies.

and they laid there, they slept there amongst
the fork and the spoon, they played there
neatly tied and attached to another time.

they, as were many things, always
ready for the next dive, that jump
to end this dead end climb.

the imagination lingers, projecting
visions of the long lost past, contentment
in a mere handful of ticking minutes.

no angel will be sent, only a small light
shinning inside this cellophane wrapped dream
naked, an imperfection left adrift on the inside.

an imagination conceived, existing
within the minute vastness of silent boredom
and it is here where surrender is loving survival.
