The Rock Sits on Top
I go to see your rock
I know that only bones exists
I know that it is just a box
beneath the ground it sits
You never breathed a breath
of air no oxygen filled your lungs
you were blue and lifeless
your eyes glazed over dead
Why do I go to see your stone
when I know that only bones exist
when I know that it is just a box
beneath the ground it sits
The movement I felt for many months
prior to your coming
but on that faithful day
that life slipped away
I felt the movements lessen
slowly dying minute by minute
the pain was so great as I pushed
but the pain to know you were gone
That pain was greater than any other
that I would not hear you giggle
I would not see you smile
but to put you in a box
beneath the ground where the rock
sits on top
I know that only bones exists
I know that it is just a box
beneath the ground it sits
You never breathed a breath
of air no oxygen filled your lungs
you were blue and lifeless
your eyes glazed over dead
Why do I go to see your stone
when I know that only bones exist
when I know that it is just a box
beneath the ground it sits
The movement I felt for many months
prior to your coming
but on that faithful day
that life slipped away
I felt the movements lessen
slowly dying minute by minute
the pain was so great as I pushed
but the pain to know you were gone
That pain was greater than any other
that I would not hear you giggle
I would not see you smile
but to put you in a box
beneath the ground where the rock
sits on top
