Unburdened
Scarce as desert rain
Dear as first love
Though you not my first I shall maintain
You are loved and on you I place none above
When yesterday we hugged
Yet today your presence remains
Reviving the love that others shrugged-
My solace devouring my pains.
What pleasures by day that taunt me
Are known to me by night
Though dreams are dreams thou art still deity
To dream or wake is now my plight
What my heart devours my lips must say
Before my time is stole by death
That if man needs air to live a day
Then you’re my air, as I take a deep breath.
