Image for the poem I Don

I Don't Need A Hero

I don't need a hero
I don't need a dad
I don't need your sympathy
Maybe I would like your empathy
I don't need a shoulder to cry on
I don't need to be your pawn
I can stand on my own
I will be fine alone
My tears I can wipe away
I don't need a hero to save me
I can do this on my own, despite the sea of misery
I can navigate it on my own
I can do fine alone
I've had my share of Hero's, Angels and Want-To-Be-Lovers
I do not need a heavy make out session under the covers
I do not need any of this
And I do not want or long for a stormy strong kiss

Too bad I am lying through my teeth...
