Long Lost-The Iris Series, II
Your the closest thing to heaven
she whispered into my ear
I held her tight in my embrace
I could feel her nuzzle into my warmth
I could feel her easy rhythms of breath
and her gentle heart beat against mine
lifting her head she looked up into my eyes
She could see the tears brimming
But I wouldn't let myself
as tears cascaded down her soft cheeks
Soaking into my shirt and skin
making her mark in my heart forever
I knew this couldn't happen
yet it was happening
I let my arms fall, for I must depart
yet she still clung to me
Her head in my chest weeping softly
embedding her deeper in my heart and soul
Why did this have to happen
it never happened in the movies this way
She finally dropped her arms also and backed away
Her auburn hair a little wet from her tears
Her cheeks rosy from weeping
her mascara bleeding
her head drooped
Yet she was still the most beautiful thing in the world
The definition of an angel, perfect
Lifting her head she locked eyes with mine
I could feel my heart die
My soul boiling into a chilling nothingness
She then spoke her final words to me
In a painstaking voice barely audible
U.T.N.T.W.M.A, however I recognized it
It's meaning, it sole purpose
Whispering it back to her
I turned away
I could hear her start to weep
as I walked
....away....
