You are my diamond, assurance of angels’ existence
You are my treasure, assurance of perfection’s existence
If I held you up to the light, Could I see through your façade
Or are you pure through and through
I’m so scared of losing you, I’ll believe every word you say
Don’t burn me and make me regret you, You’re all I have left
Did the sky bleed with the dirt and every wandering creature
Did the stars rise up to greet you, even the moon stopped in its plight
I feel eyes upon you, As if my skin was your own
Still I wish I knew what to do when you wander off from my sight
I’m connected like branches to roots, I hope you know what I mean
As hardened as my skin is, Your smile is enough to pull it apart at the seams
Is this another trick, another mirage played on my exhausted eyes
Will I wake up one day, with an “I’m sorry” carved in the floorboards
I fear for my sanity, But still I hold your hand and wave to the heavens
I fear for humanity, Our bond is so tight I could snap
I pray for ignorance while begging to know the truth
Can this world, the one I’ve distrusted for so long, actually produce such good
All this time I have seen evil, I have never stopped to ponder the possibility
But your exquisite appearance is too close to what I’ve been searching for
