I Am Not A Carpet

Like a carpet you stepped on me,
Dragged your feet and smeared mud across me.
Tearing me apart,
Bit by bit;
Tear by tear.
I was just an object, something to be had.
Disposable, to be tossed aside.

You unraveled me,
Slowly and cleverly,
Picking out the weaker strings to be plucked first.
You were greedy some days, you tore chunks out as wholes.

Because you took everything.
My sole purpose.
Until finally you took the last of it.
The last of everything.
Chewed it and spit it out.

Now I am unrecognizable,
Lost and incomplete.
I am no longer me.
Not put together, like I always used to be.

But you walk away bearing no slight difference.
It doesn't bother you, no it doesn't effect you.
Its easy, to leave me behind unfixable.

You are a monster that loomed over me,
Using me for your every need,
Having me only to your liking.
You stole me from the start.

I am not something you can play around with.
I am not toy to be dangled by a string.
Because I am not a carpet, I am a human being.
With feelings, hopes and dreams.

No, it doesn't matter to you.
I have lost, you have won.
I claim defeat, isn't this exactly what you always wanted?
No more reason, I can't think straight.
Just continue to hurt me, it's all that I have.
