I Won't Change
When did trying become failing
When did perseverance become habit of losers
When did my hanging on become a pain in your side
You used to applaud my struggle, now you ridicule me
I won’t change for you, I won’t give into your weakness
I won’t change for you, I won’t become a slave to normalcy
I won’t change for you, I won’t sell out to buy in
I won’t change for you, I won’t love what I loathe
As I have welcomed death, You have also accepted my fate
As if I had pained you in such a way to make you feel such hate
Was my role as a savior too much for your conscience to handle
Or was my role in your life too important for you to stand
I walk these empty streets, Staring through fog and dimmed light
Becoming one with the sky, One with the ground and the night
I walk through to the dawn, Staring into the sun and it’s rays
Becoming one with time, One with fate and my destiny
All through the days I have been away, I have never forgotten your face
