In Moonlight
1.
Entering
in bright moonlight
late
one night
she struggled through the shafts:
several inches of cold water lay on the bottom
of the horizontal tunnel.
2.
She could smell
oxygen which meant that the water was fresh:
the tunnel almost seemed
too narrow
for turning around.
3.
She stopped every now and then to listen,
heard nothing.
4.
Suddenly there was a strange sound. It
was like wind whistling over the
peaks of high mountains,
or the sound of a geyser minutes
before it erupts: or her entering into moonlight.
