Melancholy Haze
A blinding flash of sunlight
Memories of the past
Golden sunshine times
I knew could never last
Now in the autumn of my life
I sit alone and gaze
Through my frosted window
In a melancholy haze
The warming rays of sunshine
Don’t protect me from the cold
Only serves to remind me
That I’m getting old
From cradle to the grave
So much time spent in a daze
Watching life pass me by
In a melancholy haze
I’ve seen the birth of new life
And seen life simply ebb away
It’s far too late to tell me
Life is real and not a play
Too much time behind me
Ahead not so many days
Just counting down the hours
In a melancholy haze
Memories of the past
Golden sunshine times
I knew could never last
Now in the autumn of my life
I sit alone and gaze
Through my frosted window
In a melancholy haze
The warming rays of sunshine
Don’t protect me from the cold
Only serves to remind me
That I’m getting old
From cradle to the grave
So much time spent in a daze
Watching life pass me by
In a melancholy haze
I’ve seen the birth of new life
And seen life simply ebb away
It’s far too late to tell me
Life is real and not a play
Too much time behind me
Ahead not so many days
Just counting down the hours
In a melancholy haze
