Pains of a Poet
Dear Poets,
The talents you possess are outstanding and can not be measured by the number of reads you have received. It can not be measured by the amount of reading list you are in; or how many people follow you. It can only be measured by the amount of emotion and truth that one reveals.
Poetry is that one form of writing we all appreciate more than the rest. Somehow our scrambled emotions transform into words; organized words that create something. Something reasonable, understandable. It makes confusing situations comprehendible, unfamiliar feelings seem not so scary, scary scenarios into something passionate. It makes sense out of non sensible phenomenons.
We might not have much in common but we share a fondness for our art; our words. No one can silence you, your talents, who you are. Poetry is what helped us survive this thing called life. Poetry took the pain and sadness and made it something beautiful.
Talent is birthed from pain, pain we have all endured. I just wanted to share with the glorious people in this community a bit of advice. Don't get discouraged by mediocre things, by the amount of reads, followers, or reading list; if your poems have emotion they are amazing. If they possess passion then they are publish worthy. I see your beauty that was once pain and praise you for it. We all have that traumatic experience hiding in our back pocket that has given us motivation in this art.
I am here for you, I am listening and reading. I love your beauty, your ugliness, your light, and darkness. I love your demons, your savors, and your power to move on. I admire your strength and hope you will recognize it in others. Keep writing because they can not take away our words.
Sincerely,
A fellow poet
