Murmurs of Desire
Her painful cries
Echo indefinitely
From the frigid rooftop.
I hear her body
Continuously shifting,
Trying to ease the agony
Of the wire cage compressing against
Her weakened body.
We cry in harmony.
She cries because of
The torturous prison
Restraining her body,
Restricting access to her
Beautiful babies.
I mourn for I know
She will die,
Killed by monsters like myself.
Putting my filthy hands around
Her innocent neck
Would serve the same purpose
As letting her die.
She would just be less
Starved.
Bruised.
Confused.
Her screams won't die
Till her pain dies.
But her love for her children
Will go undying.
So bitter is this truth,
No matter how many times repeated.
In a way,
I cry because
I see myself in her.
We both cry because
We know.
What we desire,
Is what we won't get.
Echo indefinitely
From the frigid rooftop.
I hear her body
Continuously shifting,
Trying to ease the agony
Of the wire cage compressing against
Her weakened body.
We cry in harmony.
She cries because of
The torturous prison
Restraining her body,
Restricting access to her
Beautiful babies.
I mourn for I know
She will die,
Killed by monsters like myself.
Putting my filthy hands around

Would serve the same purpose
As letting her die.
She would just be less
Starved.

Till her pain dies.
But her love for her children
Will go undying.
So bitter is this truth,
