Brightest Darkness
Head playing mind games with you
Circles of clouds from death’s tool
Wandering out the window
Trees outside have turned into angels
That don’t pay attention
Just like every other concerned
Friend of yours that disappeared
Your darling is riding on lightning
Somewhere in Dallas
Falling in love with everyone
In a crowded room
Downstairs, in a locked cabinet
Satan mocks the point of your existence
Your mouth is too dry to spit
In its general direction
The wind blew out of town
What’s left just hangs in the still air
Waiting for it to come back and reinvigorate
But your limbs hold more vitality
Then the night of your father’s death
Or any other day before today’s
And you’ll eat your words like
A rotted steak, swimming in refuse
But you swear what you’ve lingered in
Has been the brightest darkness
You’ll see for a long time
Circles of clouds from death’s tool
Wandering out the window
Trees outside have turned into angels
That don’t pay attention
Just like every other concerned
Friend of yours that disappeared
Your darling is riding on lightning
Somewhere in Dallas
Falling in love with everyone
In a crowded room
Downstairs, in a locked cabinet
Satan mocks the point of your existence
Your mouth is too dry to spit
In its general direction
The wind blew out of town
What’s left just hangs in the still air
Waiting for it to come back and reinvigorate
But your limbs hold more vitality
Then the night of your father’s death
Or any other day before today’s
And you’ll eat your words like
A rotted steak, swimming in refuse
But you swear what you’ve lingered in
Has been the brightest darkness
You’ll see for a long time
