Seeking You
Forgive me, my love, I chose to walk away
Ever since, I’ve searched for the right words to say
Forgive me, my love, I was intrigued and confident
Ever since, I’ve drowned in whiskey and sinful nights
I walked the longest roads, To the lowest valleys
I climbed the tallest mountains, To be above the heavens
I ran amongst creatures and flew with the angels
I have seen the wonders where perfection lingers
Now that I can see through cloud and shadow
I long to see your beautiful face and forgiving smile
And walk once more down quiet streets and driveways
To closed doors and candles, Roses and lust in the air
I wish to breathe you in, To have you be near my beating heart
Is it too little too late, Is your body filled with regrets and hate
I hope you cherish our time spent in fields with the moon
I hope you remember the time spent in laughter and enjoyment
Not the seconds that ticked away in ruefulness and rage
Not the hours spent screaming our lies, Filling the night with our cries
We were too close to be this far apart, We were too young to be this bitter
I hope your lungs breathe deep, And your eyes have forgotten the tears
I hope your soul has recovered, And your heart never forgets the years
Ever since, I’ve searched for the right words to say
