A New Day
The cool morning breeze
Soft-tapping on my door again and again
Like a secret lover
Seeking to sneak in
Secretly.
Many morning birds
On the trees
Just ahead my verandah
Chirping happily
Like ten thousand typist
In a large typing pool
Typing… typing… typing,
Dawn again.
The sun is raising its head again
In the east
And stretching his feet
Warming up just outside my window
For another marathon
Across the sky
So very wide and bright
Daybreak again.
A new day again
With all the signs and wonders
With all the push and pull
Cloudy realities
And we must give thanks
We must be happy
For one more successful step
Toward the grave.
Soft-tapping on my door again and again
Like a secret lover
Seeking to sneak in
Secretly.
Many morning birds
On the trees
Just ahead my verandah
Chirping happily
Like ten thousand typist
In a large typing pool
Typing… typing… typing,
Dawn again.
The sun is raising its head again
In the east
And stretching his feet
Warming up just outside my window
For another marathon
Across the sky
So very wide and bright
Daybreak again.
A new day again
With all the signs and wonders
With all the push and pull
Cloudy realities
And we must give thanks
We must be happy
For one more successful step
Toward the grave.
