Memories come to me

As I awake from my slumber
Memories cascade through my mind
making my head pound
and tears threaten to escape
from the corners of my eyes
I feel empty
raw
the drugs wore off
now I'm left to face reality
where the monsters in my head
never stay a distance away
where the shadows on the wall
make me close my eyes
and force myself to pretend
Im not alone
its still last night
im still in someones arms

towards that iridescent light
that burst behind my eyelids
turning my body into a live wire
were i have no control
no thoughts pounding against my skull
grabbing the sheets wrapped around me
I[font=Georgia] feel the cold against my warm palms
and i turn
finding comfort in this cold
hearing the gentle buzz of my cell
as it hits the floor
i ache to reach for it
to have one more night
of fantasy come to life[/font]
but the tears that run down my heated skin
remind me
Its ok to be alone
if only for one night
