To a Broken Angel
I know an angel
Who loves with a bleeding heart
Who wears a mask to hide her pain
Who tries to fly away with broken wings
I know an angel
Who once shined brighter than the sun
Who was never afraid of any pain, that eventually came
Who now sits in a darkened corner, slowly fading into nothingness
I know an angel
Who I had hurt and betrayed
Who gave me her bleeding heart
And I shred it to pieces like paper
I know an angel
Who had trusted me
Who I abandoned like a coward
When she needed me the most
I know an angel
Who needs a true friend
A friend who understands and listens
A friend who wants to see her soar into the open sky
I know an angel
Her pain I understand
Her grief, I listen to
Her dying heart, I hold tightly and help it keep beating
I know an angel
Who flutters like a wounded bird
Who still casts a faint glow in the dark
Who I want to see fly away, towards the horizon, to freedom.
Who loves with a bleeding heart
Who wears a mask to hide her pain
Who tries to fly away with broken wings
I know an angel
Who once shined brighter than the sun
Who was never afraid of any pain, that eventually came
Who now sits in a darkened corner, slowly fading into nothingness
I know an angel
Who I had hurt and betrayed
Who gave me her bleeding heart
And I shred it to pieces like paper
I know an angel
Who had trusted me
Who I abandoned like a coward
When she needed me the most
I know an angel
Who needs a true friend
A friend who understands and listens
A friend who wants to see her soar into the open sky
I know an angel
Her pain I understand
Her grief, I listen to
Her dying heart, I hold tightly and help it keep beating
I know an angel
Who flutters like a wounded bird
Who still casts a faint glow in the dark
Who I want to see fly away, towards the horizon, to freedom.
