WATER FOR FIRE
Did you witness
The wear and tear
In the deltas of the great Niger?
The military played music
With guns and tanks
The stringed cowries
Tied to the waist
Of the militants
Did not fail in those days,
Two elephants and the grass
Women and children
Swallowed flying bullets
And vomited blood.
This has
Smeared the entire region.
The shots has brought attention
But cannot consume
The chant:
‘Water for fire!’

About the atrocities, they did truly happened. When youths in the Niger Delta(Oil Rich) region of my country began to take up arms against the government to fight against negligence and exploitation of the region by Nigeian government.
At first, the government thought they could easily wipe out the youth by sending troops to finish them off. But it turned out that as the fighting continued, the youths grow stronger in number and military might.
You can't imagine the atrocities that followed. When it got unbearable for the government, they called for amnesty and that is what has restrained the crisis thus far.
