The pain of what I've lost

I feel as if I’m dying
Crying as I fall
I wish I couldn’t feel a thing
That I felt nothing at all

I can’t describe this awful pain
I wish that it would go away
But all indicators seem to say
My pain is here to stay

To think I once knew happiness
To think I once knew love
I thought you were an angel
Sent from heaven above

I know that we are history
I know that we are done
In the battle between mind and heart
It seems that pain has won

Oh how I yearn to feel the joy
That you once brought to me
But whenever I think of you
I feel such misery

The misery of knowing that
My angel is no longer mine
So on my soul and happiness
Depression starts to dine
