The thing that should not be
How do we speak of the night
Slumbered in shadows
In fear till first light
It lurks beneath our beds
Eagerly awaiting plight
It's hunger will be fed
When the stars are bright
And the moon is high
It creeps out into the light
As we stare into its eyes
Blood runs thick through our veins
Tonight we die
We try to run
We try to hide
But we accomplish none
Nowhere to go from here
It claws and bites
Ripped open ear to ear
Still sight to see
And heart does beat
What is this thing
That should not be
Slumbered in shadows
In fear till first light
It lurks beneath our beds
Eagerly awaiting plight
It's hunger will be fed
When the stars are bright
And the moon is high
It creeps out into the light
As we stare into its eyes
Blood runs thick through our veins
Tonight we die
We try to run
We try to hide
But we accomplish none
Nowhere to go from here
It claws and bites
Ripped open ear to ear
Still sight to see
And heart does beat
What is this thing
That should not be
