Bounce Some Noise Off My Silence

You play the game like the world champ
Seasoned beyond your years
And I'm green as a rookie in the grass
Bound to cry a thousand tears
I'm the new kid and you're the head of the class
Tugging on my heart strings like there's no tomorrow
Don't dare save any of me for later
Devour every last morsel and then move on
I'm just a meek mouse to your angry alligator

All I ask for is some respect
I know you're the best
And you make everything electric
Bouncing your noise off my silence
I just have to take a deep breath before I try us

I know just what you want
Someone tough with the mind to make light
But it's kind of hard when you constantly disarm me
Whether it's on purpose or just your natural talent
I never can find the right words in these deep waters
And you sit there waiting for poetry from my lips
But I never was able to speak as well as my pen can
And even my pen isn't all that versatile
I don't know what I want, well I do but it's nails
On a chalkboard in the middle if my brain
While I'm trying to get across to you
That after you I may be certifiably insane
