Poet Introduction
Lately, find it interesting and, occasionally, enjoyable...
Inches Before Zero
It's always over
before it ends...
The only variable is
the illusion of distance...",
she thought
as she closed the door
behind her...

The Turn
Remember the time
history lost control of the wheel
and could not turn the way it intended?
No?
Then
Time is not the witness
but the thief!
history lost control of the wheel
and could not turn the way it intended?
No?
Then
Time is not the witness
but the thief!

He Thought About It
Thought about it...
He thought about it a lot
- certainly, a figure of speech;
thought quantity is always immeasurable -
as immeasurable always is
- his thoughts turned to her -
the distance between their eyes in the dark
the dark, that other small infinite between them
"You're not true", he whispered
"I'm not true...
True is unreachable, untenable and unattainable
almost non-existent..."
"Then, reach for the almost true", she whispered back
as she turned her back to him
"Just remember, almost true
is...

Staged Dialogue
Him: There was a time
I was the lone swan in your lake...
Her: There was a time
I had a lake for swine....
Him: And all the times
you left your door unlocked for me?
Her: Was there a time
I ever gave you the key?
Director's Note: Attention to spacing!
Distance, as relative as it is,
always is;
that's why he'll never reach her...

Maria's Spring Cleaning
This day
without prior notice or warning
without any reason she cared to share
she stopped being a lone swimmer
in his stream of tears
and she became the exit sign
that showed him the way out.
She cleaned her closet
one skeleton at a time
emptying all memories in heavy duty plastic
and then peacefully
transitioned to the longest pause
smiling at the single thought
she allowed entrance to her mind
"It's not that tomorrow never came, dear;
simply you weren't there ...

Cycle
The cycle repeats
and
in the process
is repeated
-Things happen in the dark-
In absence of choice
In lack of strategy
In endless fragmentation
Just alphabet symbols
to disguise dyslexia
Scattered letters in scattered minds
too many to choose from
choices
choices
choices
s for the security in this floating misery
l for the cigarette lit in the margins of the night
o for the womb the tomb the doom the dice
w for the why and the wander of the eye
one spells lost ...

Step
Watching my step...
Not much movement...
Some accumulation of guilt...
And the toes, oh, the toes!...
If not for the toes,
it would, surely, be a waste of time...

Pistachio Nut
And there it came
- besides, it was inevitable.
Foreseen by so many from the ranks of the wise
predicted by all important, more or less, solemn prophets
how could it not come -
the end of the world
- yes, that end, this world -
the utter destruction of the earth.
A truly apocalyptic, cataclysmic event
fires engulfing the whole earth
oceans overflowing, drowning anything lacking liquidity
meteorites hitting the planet mercilesly
black holes of countless hues, swallowing and never spitting
tsunamis, tornadoes,...

Comical, Assaulting "Ifs" (Oh, If I Only Had A Self I Could Call My Own)
If I had a self,
I would have an excuse;
if I had many selves,
I would have many excuses;
if I had no self,
I would have no excuses;
and,
if all the above are true,
I need no excuse at all...

In The Photo Of The Finish Line
Embarked on the journey to discover himself
he raced against the wind
and the wind beat him by a nose
(again)
What finished him off this time
in the photo of the finishing line
he was nowhere to be found...

Presence A Necessary Condition For Memory
She doesn't remember
because she, never, was there.
Time and time again
circumstance upon circumstance
she would find herself
resembling a softly said "maybe"
and she adapted well
and it suited her better.
As many circles
as one would run around her
she would never feel surrounded
because
she would really not be there...
because she, never, was there.
Time and time again
circumstance upon circumstance
she would find herself

It Dawned On Me
There was a light
in the end of the tunnel...
They were simply going
in the wrong direction...
in the end of the tunnel...
They were simply going
in the wrong direction...
