POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
What Matters
There is this time in life
Filled with beautiful people
That matter
I feel as though everyone lives for this time
For this one moment
That matters
When time stops for a short second
Only long enough to capture whats about to happen
You look around and see the smiling, laughing faces around you
And feel that this moment could last forever
You feel infinite
Nothing matters
Except this moment with these people
Who you feel as though you could never live a day without
You stop and take it all in
But only for a second so you can live for...
Filled with beautiful people
That matter
I feel as though everyone lives for this time
For this one moment
That matters
When time stops for a short second
Only long enough to capture whats about to happen
You look around and see the smiling, laughing faces around you
And feel that this moment could last forever

Like A Child
I felt like a child around you
A helpless little girl only wanting to be loved
With nothing to give but kisses and everything in the world open for you to take.
Old enough to play like the rest of them
But too young to understand the game.
You controlled me and I let you
Just like a child would.
I let you steal my innocence as I let myself grow up
Because I was a big girl now
Finally able to play like the rest of them
When in reality I was still your toy
Still a little girl playing with a much too big boy.

To Look
I looked at you just like I had so many times before,
Something felt diffeTrent right at that moment.
Maybe it was the feeling of the crisp new summer air that lingered around us,
Or maybe it was the fact that my mother would be home at any second and we couldn't bare to say goodbye yet.
The only light was the one above my front door, where you held me below, and the light coming from that bright gleam in your eyes.
I looked at you and saw you gazing back
Before our lips touched for the third time that week.
That's when I knew
I knew it could be the start...

Change in Worry
She sat beneath the gentle branches
And was filled with a comforting sense of innocence and endless youth.
This was where the careless imaginations of her and her friends ran wild.
Frivolous games and make believe stories were the only things she needed to worry about.
She sat beneath the now changing leaves
And was filled with an unfamiliar feeling of self consciousness.
This was where she listened to her friends gossip and mindlessly chatter about the weird girls in her class.
Wanting to fit in with the popular girls at school was what she began to worry...

Ideas
Two lost souls
That's all we were
Neither knowing where the seas would take us
You had ideas
Big ideas
About big places and big dreams
Ideas only someone as carefree and as young hearted,
as you were, could think up
But I
I was different
I was in a constant storm
And on a ship that wasn't prepared for the damage that was to come
The ideas of mine were different
Small and short term
Only big enough to get through each storm that I next encountered
I was broken and there was no way to fix me
But you
You were lost in...
