Backwoods Love
Loving you was harder then it seemed.
Up at night, due to broken dreams.
Puppet Master, you loved pulling strings.
When all you had to do was just believe.
We had a future, I handed you the keys.
Country living, just like you asked to be.
I was your king, and you were my queen.
But that Wile E Coyote, would always get in between.
On my knees, begging for you to see.
But you and God had other plans unfortunately.

Better Days
There was a point in my life, where I had lost sight of the light.
Walking down dark roads and lonely nights.
Not even Satan could explain to me, my wrongs from rights.
To some people temptation was a disease.
But to me, it was an escape from what I had seen.
Not having to differentiate what dreams were from memories.
Previous wars, bullets whistling and people's screams.
Only a certain few can understand the words that tend to bleed.
Lost friends, loved ones, and casualties.
Always looking over my shoulder, checking for the enemy.

Hidden Messages
I tend to sometimes wonder, why God smiles down on me.
Or is it that he's trying to build my tolerance, for pain and disbelief.
Either way that I see it, I'm glad that you stood next to me.
You're wonderfully amazing, breathtaking, and quite unique.
I sit here drinking coffee, thinking to myself, how lucky I could be.
I just want you to know one thing, and that's, Be patient, God's working on me.
Or is it that he's trying to build my tolerance, for pain and disbelief.

Eres mi pan dulce. Ven aqui porque quiero comerte.
Me vuelves loco y fuera de mi mente.
Tienes mi corazón y ya lo sabes.
De alguna manera robaste las llaves.
Probablemente cuando me noqueaste como Chavez.
O cuando me emborrachaste como esas caguamas
Pero realmente creo que son tus nalgas.

Marriage Life
I'm use to spending my days in bad weather.
Hot, cold, sleet, snow, whiteouts it didn't matter.
Pushing myself to the limits because I hated to see you sick.
Who would have thought that the moments away would be the reason that we'd eventually split.
Thank God you made it through and now the kids are grown.
The only down fall is I'm sitting at this table eating breakfast all alone.
When just 10 years ago I was singing to a different tune.
I can't say I hate you because yes I understand you, even though sometimes I wish it wasn't true.
On the outside...

Technical KnockOut
I know it's been a minute since I've placed a call.
But I had to pick myself up from when you made me fall.
It's definitely your fault that now I'm afraid of heights.
Who would have thought then, not to let this love take flight.
Like a pitbull, you sure do got a bite.
Protecting my left, as you swing with your right.
Love taps, thinking who turned out the lights.
Counting out loud but hearing them as ABC's.
Thinking how did this girl get me on my knees.
There's no doubt that you won that bout.
Now I'm training my mind that I can live...

It's just another day sitting in the rain, wondering why life always has to change.
If I could turn these hands of time, I'd set them back to when it was just the two of us drinking crown and getting high.
But those days were years ago. Sadly now I'm here trying to piece back this broken soul.
I know it's not your fault that you passed away, but I do miss the encouraging words that you use to say.
Like keep your head up and never change.
Fuck'em all and look towards the brighter days.

Where I Lie
As I look up at the night sky, I see exactly where I lie.
Right there in the darkness, far away from all the lights.
Where the void is vast, and not a twinkle in sight.
I shiver outside in the cold, wondering the how and the why.
Refusing to think, that this was all just a lie.
I guess I am where I am, solely alone on this night.
Not a conversation to be had, but the one within my mind.
Slightly afraid, to figure out what it is that I'll find.
But I remain optimistic, that there is still a you and I.

Baiting The Wind
She came as a cool autumn breeze, blowing about wildly and free.
Her presence touched every inch of me, from my head down to my feet.
She whispered in my ear, faint sounds that I could barely make out.
Other than the words I love you, that, I felt without a doubt.
She easily moved everything around me, from the tallest trees to the smallest blades of grass.
But it all stopped suddenly, so I sit here pondering and I ask,
"Where did my wind go? Why did it have to go by so fast?
I've contemplated plans of capture to perfection, baiting a kite for the next...

If you understand and believe in what I see, there wouldn't be a doubt in your mind.
You can run without a worry and be free, I'll make sure to be right there by your side.
If you're worried about falling, there's no need, I'll be ready to catch you every time.
I closed my eyes and I made a wish, then abra cadabra you were magically mine.
I know it's crazy but I'm just saying, that everything will eventually be fine.
Don't worry I'm not going to lose you, I'll make sure to always hold your hand this time.
A love like this should be illegal, or at best...

When beauty fades and all that's left, are betrayals, lies, and hatefulness.
Trying to hide yourself behind smiling emojis and it's all goods.
Doesn't mean that your words were misunderstood.
It's not like makeup, you can't hide the jabs.
The this and that or the that and this, and think the context was completely missed.
I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, but it's kind of hard to ignore the words that come out their mouth.
