Throughout
I wear your love on my skin
In scents of earth & musk, wood & spice
The memory of your kiss crowns my head
& your breath nuzzles brown curls
I wear the colors of our lives
In blush & blue & sunshine gold
On canvases of arm & thigh
Dusts of our past freckles my body
Constellations of our story
Yet none compares to the marks of beauty
You’ve penned on my heart and in my mind
I wear your love
Inside & out

Through the Starry Skies
I saw your beacons glistening in the sky above
Shimmering whispers, “______, you are loved”
Felt the shivers of your tender touch
Tingling breezes, “shh, I miss you, too, so much”
Leaves fluttering notes through the air
Soft hushed brushes of your gentle care
In the velvet autumn blue of night
Spectrums of senses beyond sound & sight
Breathed your essence to my waiting heart
My Love, my Smile, I don’t want to be apart!

Country Fall (for the missing piece)
My love for you leaked out along
Country roads & northern highways
These last few days as crisp bright colors
Reds, greens, orange & yellow tones
And drumming drops of autumnal rains
Dripped & whirled in cooling breezes
Did your thoughts, once flown to me,
Lose their way to dance among the leaves?
The pattering wetness on my cheeks—
Kisses? Ah. Just the chilly rain…
Still, these streets of shortening days
The sunset on the river
Small town pubs and parks of remembrance
All still miss the friendly tones ...

Scrambling in the Deep
Been treading water
Through thousands of miles & days
Having melted my wings on your fire
And careened from your heaven
sunk into this unknown
False arms at times
Stretching through the murky currents
Pretenders to the throne
Played physician with my wounds
Snake oil all
My broken heart desires only one
Now again I tread unknowns
Heart bound to your declining hands
We never meant for this, did we?
I’m so sorry, I know not how
To stop my heart from spilling
My messy longings round your feet
...

The heart-waves of your love
These final remnants
Ghost whisperings of your voice
That fill my lungs with living breath
Have evaporated from my senses today
I gasp for reverberations of your memory
Here, in my now
Tonight I’m drowning
Lonely for you
My oxygen
Withdrawn the passionate embrace
