Fight back
I know

Predictability
Without waves
the ocean would just be water
Without stars
the endless night sky would just be black
Without lightening
storms would be all show and no action
Without wind
air would stay in one place
forever

I want to hide you away
protect you
shelter you
from all of life's
hardships and struggles
I want to keep you
from making the same
mistakes that I made
But I have to let go

This is not

about the pain
the blood
the cuts
that never seem to heal
"Time heals"
I don't think so
"Just say no"
Harder than it sounds
"No pressure"
Ever heard that used
without sarcasm?
"Talk to a trusted friend"
Even if I knew someone
worth trusting
I wouldn't want
to ruin their day
by telling them
what you and I
already know
"Life sucks, and then you die"
Some sooner than others

of hoping
things will change

how things will turn out

my future looked bright

for a happy ending

of wallowing
in sadness

nowhere else to go

of giving
until I have nothing left
but sickness

Revenge
There's no way to avoid it
I know I was wrong
But did you really need
to throw it back in my face?
Couldn't you have just
let it go?
We all make mistakes
we all have regrets
And this is mine
That is no excuse
to treat me the way
that I deserve
You could have been strong
and just moved on
But instead you hurt me
like I hurt you
Is this really how you felt?
Or is it different
because you were surrounded
by friends
and engulfed by family
and I am alone
left to think about
what I am missing
left to...

You think you know me

to watch my every move
but no one knows
what I think about
when I'm alone
Someday I'll get
an opportunity
that I can't pass by

It's not a trick question
The answer is simple

This is life, not a game

I have a temper
that you don't
want to see
so stay away

have my faults
but disloyalty
is not
among them
I will fight
for friendship
and you
are a threat

overlook
I will warn her
but still
she may not see

for what you are
So I must be there

on the edge
to cut you off
She will thank me
