POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I be an internationally acclaimed author of poetry, short stories and a novel.
My Heart in Your Hands
You, Idongesit, have
Treated me thus.
To dance with my heart
In her lover's bed.
Why?
Does he
Do better than
I do?
You sneak in my
Absence into his bed.
But you told me
It's just the two of us
You told me
I kiss very well.
But in my absence
You sneak out
To dance with him.
With my heart in
Your hands.
Treated me thus.
To dance with my heart
In her lover's bed.
Why?
Does he
Do better than
I do?
You sneak in my
Absence into his bed.
But you told me
It's just the two of us
You told me
I kiss very well.
But in my absence
You sneak out
To dance with him.
With my heart in
Your hands.

Human Nature 1
Rain has stopped
The birds to fly
The bare sky.
He sits facing
Yon horizon,
Consuming.
He wished he was
A bird instead
Of a man.
Nature's wind soothing
My cares and birds
Perch on my pneuma
Man has dominated
Himself to his
Own detriment.
We are a hybrid
Of the quondam,
Benevolence and offing.
The birds to fly
The bare sky.
He sits facing
Yon horizon,
Consuming.
He wished he was

Sex and Death 2
Rain and thunder and
Lightening. Shushed screams.
Pain, pleasure and crown.
~ ~ ~
Your heart in my hands
My flesh inside you
Fire and utopia.
~ ~ ~
Tongue on your soft spots
Hands clutching your throat
Choking you to acme.
~ ~ ~
Empty and hollow
Within
Love can be a sepulcher
~ ~ ~
Close as can be
Yet never within reach
Love is eternity.
~ ~ ~
Pink panties no bra
Breasts trepidation
Succubus visits
~ ~ ~
Torn g-string
Legs and arms spread ...
Lightening. Shushed screams.
Pain, pleasure and crown.

Sex and Death 1
Miles, miles away.
You yet stick like
Chameleon feces.
~ ~ ~
Warpingmy desires.
Sweet surrender to
You and eternity.
~ ~ ~
Her head deflated
red ooze on her thigh
and torn white garment
~ ~ ~
Mush-roomy skin and
Heart of burning tar
Blanketed on aeon
~ ~ ~
Falling to the roofs
Heads tangled in fires
bursting to blue moon
~ ~ ~
Deep dark lumen
Readied tools
Wicked desires on both ends

CURIOSITY
Those people over the seas
Do they read poems
In spite of their problems?
Do they softer neglect
From their government elect?
Do they have the words
Tenant and landlord?
Do the former
Quake at the voice of the latter?
Those people overseas
Do bed bugs bug their beds
And lice plague their heads?
Do their leaders drive in fancy cars
While their youths rot behind bars?
Do they swallow junk food?
And pretend it tastes good?
Those people over the seas
Do they live like we?
Do they read poems
In spite of their problems?
Do they softer neglect
From their government elect?
Do they have the words
Tenant and landlord?
Do the former
Quake at the voice of the latter?
Those people overseas
Do bed bugs bug their beds

THE FREEDOM FIGHTER
Mother, I am back
To the creeks our only home
From where I skedaddled
When our country soldiers
Invaded us with their gun boats
Shooting burning lead
Into our intestines.
I am back to fight.
I am covered with bullet scars.
My blood has toned the waters
Of our tributaries.
My brother’s bones litter
The floor of Niger basin
The asperity of their voice
When I sleep saying:
‘Fight or be annihilated.
Mother, you ask?
You ask what I would use?
You ask who I would fight?
Just watch me.
To the creeks our only home
From where I skedaddled
When our country soldiers
Invaded us with their gun boats
Shooting burning lead
Into our intestines.
I am back to fight.

COCKADOODLEDOO
We have come out at last
To your mighty feet
We came within sixty days
With what you asked of us.
Such a long walk from the creeks
To your rocks.
Our ears battered by your
Cockamamie promises
We have learnt by heart
The songs of your soldiers’ guns
And to perspire under water
Like crocodile.
Our scrota and intestines
Are heavy with hot lead
From your federal arms.
Yet we are what you have made us.
So we have come with it all
To your mighty feet
To meet your amnesty
So that we can obviate

THE RAIN FOREST
I came to the rain forest with my axe
To inflict uponthese trees, sores and cracks.
Theylook so odd
Inthe distance.
Butthis first one
Ismore or less a god
Takingits own stand
My axe
Could not crack
Even its new bred buds
My God! Is it some god
Looking and waiting for a priest?
I was going to crack it in pieces
But here it stands like a child
Bearded with innocence
It stands so mild
Looking like a friend
My lovely little tree
Could it be
Your voice
In my chest
Saying ‘Boy
Drop...

A CASTLE OF POEMS
My heart is a fortress for all those
Yearning to come and dwell close.
Housing the whole lot of
Earthly good and odd
Thoughts.
A great heart houses
Plenty of replenishing
Thoughts while
The greatest warms the
Lowly with love
In form of artistic smiles.
Sit around this table of my heart
Put up your appetite and forget your penury
I have prepared a rich dish of poetry
Lay open to my table and eat from my plate
Laugh out your pains under the whim of my artistic wine
And when you are filled please do not wait ...
Yearning to come and dwell close.
Housing the whole lot of
Earthly good and odd

A great heart houses

RAW DEAL
Inside the cloudy
Cacophony of their amnesty,
Have the silent echoes
Of armistice been gathering.
We will find the integrity
Of our leaders
Imprecisely hanging
On a shaky balance.
Through and through
On all sides
Shall we discern their
unworthiness.
At the other end
Of two full moons
When the final whistle
Will blast.
Lights will come up
At the tunnel ends
And hope, like rodents,
Shall skedaddle
For the stage
To be set
For another play.
Cacophony of their amnesty,
Have the silent echoes
Of armistice been gathering.
We will find the integrity
Of our leaders
Imprecisely hanging
On a shaky balance.
Through and through
On all sides

WORLDS APART
Like two hungry wanderers
We met.
I, from the direction
You were set.
I was cupping a story
And all you had was beauty.
I poured my powdery story
On your breast
And then on your head.
With my tongue, I drummed
On your tympanum
Till you danced the dance
Which carried to the
distance
The thump… thump… thump
Of our leathery hearts.
Briskly, briskly till it
split
And we are riven
Forever by too much passion.
The miasma of stillborn
feelings
Hangs on within
To garnish our memories.
For it was...
We met.
I, from the direction
You were set.
I was cupping a story
And all you had was beauty.
I poured my powdery story
