POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Saudade
Wisps of smoke unfurl slowly from the smoldering incense, smelling of earth and damp wood. A mug of my favorite tea sits close by, warm and inviting. The weak light from the evening sky hardly penetrates the curtains, drawn tightly to prevent such an unwanted invasion. Once again, I am alone.
Thoughts of you swirl ceaselessly through my mind. I remember how your lips tasted, and the way your tongue danced with mine in perfect rhythm. My face flushes crimson as I recall the way your hands felt against my skin, your fingertips following the curves of my body. Your voice was soft and...

A Bent Reality
I swallow twenty of the little pink tablets
Wash them down with some vodka
I wait
An hour passes
Suddenly my body is heavy
Arms and legs turned to stone
My vision shifts in and out of focus
I see my love in the bed next to me
He wraps me in a warm embrace
My soul spills out of my mouth
Emotions almost palpable
My tongue weaves sentiments
My words float into him
I wait for his response, for my love to be requited
Silence greets my ears
I blink, and suddenly he is gone
Why did he leave me?
I become frantic, terrified of...

A Taste of Heaven
I take a drink
And then another
Sips turn to gulps
The bottle is pushed to the side
Forgotten
Just like me
The alcohol isn't enough to kill the pain
To numb my mind
The razor whispers
Scarlet lines appear one by one
I savor them all
The thin, delicate metal slicing through my flesh
I laugh like dying is just a joke
I pity those who fear something so beautiful, so heavenly
It gradually consumes me
Giving me comfort that I have never been offered before
And then another
