POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
Stifle me at your own risk.
Inhuman
I am fire and ice
Blood and bone
Rage and passion
Don't touch me
Mock me and I
Will make you bleed
I will hurt you
And feel nothing
You think me weak
You think me stupid
I don't need strength
Or intelligence
When I am fire and ice
I can burn you
Freeze you
Laugh at your fear
You call me monster
Watch and fear me
As I become it
Blood and bone
Rage and passion
Don't touch me
Mock me and I
Will make you bleed
I will hurt you
And feel nothing
You think me weak
You think me stupid
I don't need strength
Or intelligence
When I am fire and ice
I can burn you
Freeze you
Laugh at your fear
You call me monster
Watch and fear me
As I become it

Mine
You are mine
My only possession
The light to my shadow
The wonder to my horror
The heroic to my tragic
You are mine
My only obsession
The gift to my claws
The friend to my enemy
The greatness to my blackness
You are
Unfathomable
Reachable
Treasured
I wonder why you do it,
I wonder why you stay
Every second brighter than the last,
I want this reality only if you remain
And so I wonder at you,
And everything you are
Everything you do
And how you dare to wonder at me too
My only possession
The light to my shadow
The wonder to my horror
The heroic to my tragic
You are mine
My only obsession
The gift to my claws
The friend to my enemy
The greatness to my blackness
You are
Unfathomable

I wonder why you stay
Every second brighter than the last,
I want this reality only if you remain
And so I wonder at you,
And everything you are
Everything you do
And how you dare to wonder at me too

Fallen
I flung myself off the cliff,
thinking I had wings strong enough to fly
The sun misleading, and suspended I
Breathed the air of the gods,
But I fell and fell and I couldn't stop
I crashed
hard
And lay broken
On the rock face
Until my pieces reattached
To a skeleton expired
I staggered away,
A different being
thinking I had wings strong enough to fly
The sun misleading, and suspended I
Breathed the air of the gods,
But I fell and fell and I couldn't stop
I crashed
hard
And lay broken
On the rock face
Until my pieces reattached
To a skeleton expired
I staggered away,
A different being

A First Meeting
Passing presence
Hollow heart
Gaping guts
Bleeding bones
Short sentence
Deadly dart
Callous cuts
Tenor tones
A pause
Then,
Eyes filled
With tenderness
Fear and
Hurt
Surface
Fight or flight
A touch
So warm
It splinters
The frozen lake
Fear and
Hurt
Surrounding
A spark of hope
Hollow heart
Gaping guts
Bleeding bones
Short sentence
Deadly dart
Callous cuts
Tenor tones
A pause
Then,
Eyes filled
With tenderness
Fear and
Hurt
Surface
Fight or flight
A touch

Questionable Sanity
It started small,
A little tickle
It started to call,
An edged fiddle
Dwelling in the dark
Behind her eyes
Leaving a mark,
Tallying the lies
Thoughts coded and wrong,
She's jaded and cracked
With a touch like fire,
Or a live wire
She's a web of silk and diamond dew,
Ensnaring those who near
She's dry of soul and living blood,
Striking those who dare
Alone, she remembers
Her silence screams
Futile; numb again,
The cycle begins anew
A little tickle
It started to call,
An edged fiddle
Dwelling in the dark
Behind her eyes
Leaving a mark,
Tallying the lies
Thoughts coded and wrong,
She's jaded and cracked
With a touch like fire,
Or a live wire
She's a web of silk and diamond dew,
Ensnaring those who near
She's dry of soul and living blood,
Striking those who dare
Alone, she remembers
Her silence screams
Futile; numb again,
The cycle begins anew

The house at the end
Orange yellow brown flakes
Twirl and twitter on the flimsy breeze
The trees shed their coats to bare their bones
As the sky falls to violet pink orange sooner,
The daily rainbow running from the chill to come
Lights come on in the small town suburbs
Stars watch over but they're too far, too far
Foggy smoke pumps across the streets
Carved faces glow and grin on the lawns
And the children marvel at them
There's a bite in the air,
a bite in the candy,
a bite in the corny creatures' voices
and screams followed by laughter...

the creatures on your shoulders
Pass and serve,
a tennis match
I'm not keeping track of
Eyes on me,
break away and lock on mine again
Bruised heart,
Are you the right puzzle piece?
Kaleidoscope of colour
Your words a breath of crisp autumn air
Lips draw upwards out of my control
Did you touch me, magnetise me?
This is electric, a fire just under my skin
I'm drawn to you
You
We giggle about the wrong things
I say so, and you say,
"Then I don't want to be right."
And I grin and grin and grin
Conversation changes...

an ode to us
Your heart is perfect, is it not?
Not a stitch, not a scar
Flawless, pristine, scintillating
Ice, and I touch
You are cold
You smile and twirl
Laugh and sing
Are you of the Elven?
Your charm enraptures all
I fell and you didn't notice
Or didn't care; I fell so hard
Your words of honey-coated acid
Drip down my own lips
A poison I cannot resist
I believed in a fabrication
I saw magic all around you
This hatred within threatens to consume me but I
Won't let it
Can't
You've never been mine yet I am...

reverentia
There are many, so many, and they shine with light of other worlds.
Scattered across a deep blue canvas of vastness,
They wink and they dance out of reach.
Mighty by the moon and slight by the sun,
They titter from their thrones high above.
They are not small, and yet they are not big.
Songful in their essence, descants surround them.
Though they cannot teach us their ways, persist, they might.
Why? Well, we are not them; we are us.
Because there is them, and then, there is us.
They do not smile or laugh or cry,

This love
none want or need
festers
and it burns my eyes,
freezes my brain,
withers my heart.
Alone,
I am lonely.
none want or need
festers
and it burns my eyes,
freezes my brain,
withers my heart.
Alone,
I am lonely.
