POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
It all goes in cycles; I just hitch a ride from phase to phase.
Half-gone Water Well
Cook me some dope
So I can reminisce
And find comfort
In my memories.
Sweet solace.
I'm one with my mind
As the clock is one
With time.
I was a little early
Cause our watches weren't
In sync.
Suppose I oughta have checked.
My skin hugs me tightly
But in some places
I could use a little toning.
Still, the embrace is nice.
It's the thought that counts
When he says,
"I'm going to make love to you."
Maybe he meant well.

When the Cows Come Home
He calls me
Thunderstorms and
Tells me I'm what the
Night does to the day.
Whatever that means.
Relativity is relative,
We only die in dreams.
Our perceptions
Are out of context.
Whatever that means.
He asked if he could read
The lace of my hem,
Then told me that
I wore this dress just for him.
I've got a funeral to go to.
The hands of the clock
Spin retrograde
In the mirror.
I'll be back before the aphelion.
I've got a funeral to go to.

Catch Up
Tethered to
Torturous memories
'Cause they're
The best
I'll ever have
Of the best
I've ever had.
I take hot baths,
But the water
Doesn't run hot
For as long.
The water
Doesn't run.
I'm not moving
Fast enough
Towards a forever
Of yesterdays,
But all too quickly
Towards a memory.
The best
I'll ever have
Of the best
I've ever had.
The water
Doesn't run.
Torturous memories
'Cause they're
The best
I'll ever have
Of the best

Feeding Time
Tracing veins with a dull blade.
Found it in my own grave-
Rusted and bent out of shape.
Sufficient for a murder and rape;
In that order.
Call the coroner.
It engraves itself with
Shattered souls-
Enough pieces to make a whole
Being,
But this being won't be living.
Walking entity
Stalking life.
Preoccupied by hate and lies.
Ready to feed
Off of innocent cries.
Found it in my own grave-
Rusted and bent out of shape.
Sufficient for a murder and rape;
In that order.
Call the coroner.
It engraves itself with
Shattered souls-
Enough pieces to make a whole

The Lab
Toothless men
Dragging long
On the third cigarette
In a row.
Telling themselves
The pack will last
Another hour.
Eyelids
Heavily weighing
On what could have been
Crystal
Clear eyes.
Oozing sores
Erupting from
Another case of
Jaundice.
Shattered bottles
And calloused feet
Of barefoot men
Walking
Back into
My
Home sweet home.
Dragging long
On the third cigarette
In a row.
Telling themselves
The pack will last
Another hour.
Eyelids
Heavily weighing
On what could have been
Crystal
Clear eyes.
Oozing sores
Erupting from
Another case of

Of barefoot men
Walking

Tears at the ready
To defend my sensitive eyes
From reality.
Truth.
Eyes at the ready
To protect my soul
From corruption.
Pity.
Soul at the ready
To guard my heart
From deterioration.
Love.
Heart at the ready
To shield my mind
From poison.
Hate.
Mind at the ready
To make war
By challenging
All it's ever known.
To defend my sensitive eyes
From reality.
Truth.
Eyes at the ready
To protect my soul
From corruption.
Pity.
Soul at the ready
To guard my heart
From deterioration.
Love.
Heart at the ready
To shield my mind

Mind at the ready
To make war
By challenging

The Man Who Thought He Was Invisible
I know the man on the porch
Watches in the window.
I leave the shade open
And the dim light on
While I go about my business.
He chain-smokes
With a chair facing the window
That I leave open
Not for him,
But for the breeze.
And the homeless night sounds.
Crying babies and sputtering engines
With the occasional domestic dispute
All fade to white noise
When the breeze wafts them in.
This man sees me
Even now
As I sit on the twin bed
In what isn't even my room
writing about him.
Sparsely clothed.
Watches in the window.
I leave the shade open
And the dim light on
While I go about my business.
He chain-smokes
With a chair facing the window
That I leave open
Not for him,
But for the breeze.
And the homeless night sounds.
Crying babies and sputtering engines
With the occasional domestic dispute
All fade to white noise
When the breeze wafts them in.
This man sees me
Even now
As I sit on the twin bed
In what isn't even my room
writing about him.
Sparsely clothed.

Slight Similarities
Hearts shatter
Just like ceramic dolls
When you realize
Their eyes are prettier than yours.
Eyes cloud
Just like the speeding trucks
Passing your pathetic civic
From the passenger's seat.
Hair splits
Just like a bad marriage
When the spark dies
And their hearts hurt from pretending.
Lips curl
Just like the roadkill
You knicked
And thought was a pothole.
Just like ceramic dolls
When you realize
Their eyes are prettier than yours.
Eyes cloud
Just like the speeding trucks
Passing your pathetic civic
From the passenger's seat.
Hair splits
Just like a bad marriage
When the spark dies
And their hearts hurt from pretending.

Opposites About Me
Love me from the window,
Love me from the door.
Love me because I'm pure,
Love me because I'm a whore.
Love me.
Hate me from the car
When I'm in the headlights
And hate me when I'm driving.
Hate me because I know your secrets,
And hate me because I'm ignorant.
Hate me.
Want me when I'm sober,
Want me when I'm drunk.
Want me because you're feeling hot,
Want me because you just want to talk.
Want me.
Leave me alone in the dark,
Leave me alone in the day.
Leave me because you need me,
Leave me because...
Love me from the door.
Love me because I'm pure,
Love me because I'm a whore.
Love me.
Hate me from the car
When I'm in the headlights
And hate me when I'm driving.
Hate me because I know your secrets,
And hate me because I'm ignorant.
Hate me.
Want me when I'm sober,
Want me when I'm drunk.
Want me because you're feeling hot,
Want me because you just want to talk.
Want me.
Leave me alone in the dark,
Leave me alone in the day.
Leave me because you need me,
Leave me because...
