POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Figure, Ground
In love the time is slow,
As droplets grow,
And trickle down heady, expectant skin,
With time to choose where they might go
I gather some in my hands and give it to my friends,
I splash some on my face,
I know it will never run dry,
And to my surprise,
At a basin in this mountain stream,
I met a shining being,
Bathing and washing her luminescent hair,
She whispered thus unto me:
"Love is the ocean,
it rises up like rain and kisses the foreheads of the mountains and hills,

I will use words to describe that which is unspoken.
I will use words to describe that which is unspoken.
And yet, in this betrayal, perhaps you will trip, and stumble upon yourself.

Puer aeternus
I knew you for a moment,
And so I'll know you all my life,
Memories sinking into glass,
Formed solid in the haunts of youth.
A sacred morgue of happiness,
Declarations of love and friendship,
All caught on my tongue.
The gazes into the past, into your eyes,
Do not betray the potential of the present,
Whispering still of moments to come.
Yet in a stumble of mine, you tilt and smash in a thousand murmuring pieces.
And suddenly, years have passed,
And the love that I saved, whispering back to me,

Vivisection
It's a while since I opened these fears,
And still a marvel,
At how visceral.
To bring love and tenderness to things so brutal,
Is a challenge.
But it's the only way I know,
That works.
And still a marvel,

Is a challenge.
But it's the only way I know,

we are all connected...
They didn't catch the moment, but it caught all of them.
I'd tell you all about it, but I can never speak again.
It was so very slow at first.
For who, in truth, can say.
When the tree rustles the wind,
When an anvil hits the hammer,
When a hole moulds to the puddle,
And a rider fits the saddle.
After all it isn't such a shock,
When my car drives me to work,
When I sound after my phone,
And the noise mimics a bird
So I would be lying if I said,
That I didn't find it odd,
That one last...

Save means to live
What a wonderful garden,
It's such a shame that the bugs all eat each other.
I wonder why,
As I crunch the torso of an unfortunate other.
The breeze and blooming curves of ripening fruits,
Tickle my senses, from here.
And over there, a misery.
Lacking not in basis, but in topology.
How terrible! How mundane!
That I should kill you because I live here and you live there.
From space and time, a billion horrors and agonies of dull logistics.
And the vertex of a twisted shape crieth "King",
As it lumbers...

Value Gradient
What is it that you control,
When your visual field is stimulated,
With impulses designed to invoke a behavioural response?
When your muscle contracts,
Due to an electric shock.
What is it that you control,
When you cannot control yourself?
And who would return it to you,
When there are entire industries to take it away.
And say, that you could not speak, until given words.
You could not act, until we gave you actions.
Thereby every moment brings you further into debt,
How on Earth can you afford to speak of...

Phase Transition
My ghost is in the machine now.
It cries on command.
But not my command.
The self saith "Feel pain!"
But it is an echo.
In caverns now owned.
With no mystery behind the blindness.
Diamonds were stolen.
That we cannot buy back.
A deer survives in randomness.
But a lion is not random.
Technology is not random.
The abyss is gazing back.
It cries on command.
But not my command.
The self saith "Feel pain!"
But it is an echo.
In caverns now owned.
With no mystery behind the blindness.
Diamonds were stolen.
That we cannot buy back.
