POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Emptiness Fills
Ghost's tears flow now.
Somewhere
(Far away)
Someone
(Far away)
Sits where I sat
(Long ago)
Distances expand
And darkness retreats,
Emptiness fills
And hearts mend.
They were telling the truth
And we still are.
Hope will be lost
Despair will abound.
Pain will be numb
With nothing to be found.
But trust in the future.
Trust in what will be.
Red suns follow
Black nights, grey dawns,
Red suns will swallow.

A dream
15th Nov. 2014
He could smell lemons from outside.
He could hear morning, Pacific
waves breaking on cool sand.
He breathed deeply as he sat up.
Sit up.
He could smell lemons from outside.
He could hear morning, Pacific
waves breaking on cool sand.
He breathed deeply as he sat up.
Sit up.

Tongues of Fire
Fire consumes them all
Licking their faces like a twisted lover
Flicking at their singed hair
At first they keep smiling
And laughing
They laugh and
Laugh and laugh
But they have no idea
How hot these flames burn
Burning
Their clothes
Skin
Hearts.
Smoke rises as the tears
Begin to tumble
From pained eyes.
The edges of mouths
Once smiling in glee
Fall now
And the flames heighten.
Screaming:
"Why?"
They demand reason
Over and over
In hell's fiery pit
One by one
They...

Hollow
A shell crumbles in the surf under my foot
I bend to look at the broken
Shards
Shards of pain they are imperceptible
The pain is dull and blunt
The pain of absence
Emptiness
Isolated to the exile of its
Dead heart
Summer sun blazing, warming dead skin
I see nothing, searching for everything
But I am left
Alone
Alone on the beach, alone in the dying June rays,
Tears drying without consolation or comfort
Swallowing the emptiness like it never existed
A cruel illusion
Borne of cruel hearts.
A shell crumbles in the surf under my foot
I bend to look at the broken
Shards
Shards of pain they are imperceptible
The pain is dull and blunt

The River.
The river flows, its banks widen
As he watches
The life hidden in it
Some longs to escape, thrashing
the banks wider with each
beat.
Some remains, content flowing on its path
Going as the life traveling before it went
Slow then
quick, speeding and slowing,
All at the same pace.
He watches the
River he has created deepen
And swell.
His eyes droop
Drowsy, he watches the movement.
He is lulled by what
He watches.
The river is slowing finally
The last dredges of life inhabiting it panic
And fall
