Memory of hope
Memory's cruel trickery,
Proffers hollow victory.
Lost embers rekindled,
Choking strife dwindled.
In this silent arena,
My heart beats keener.
In bracing sunlight;
A love's lost fight.

Unmoving
Stone form,
The cement set,
Trapped under its weight.
Wasted body,
Frozen in state.
Fiery core,
A raging torrent,
Wild in its passion.
Unbridled spirit,
Caged by fate.
Broken bonds,
A finger's twitch,
Electric in its potential.
Voice unheard,
Hushed by time.
Absolute stillness,
A certain grace,
Cruel in its finality.
Life abridged,
Stolen in prime.
The cement set,
Trapped under its weight.
Wasted body,
Frozen in state.
Fiery core,
A raging torrent,
Wild in its passion.
Unbridled spirit,
Caged by fate.

We no longer we
We bought that plant together
The frost clings tightly to the dead branches
We played that game together
A thick layer of dust on the controller
We took the train to Barcelona in a day
The streets are quiet without laughter
We stayed in the zoo overnight
An empty roar of loneliness
We chose the colours of your room
The walls are bare and silent
We had such amazing dreams for the future
Dreams of heartbreak pierce my paper shield

The saviour my ventilator
A regular pattern of breaths keeping.
Me alive and healthy while also.
Constraining my speech. I.
Must obey this rhythm or.
Die. I've forgotten how it.
Used to be when I.
Could still breathe by myself.
It was so much simpler.
I didn't have to worry about.
Random tube disconnects.
And circuit malfunctions.
Now I can.
Never be alone.
Even with someone.
Next door with a baby.
Monitor I feel.
On edge. It's amazing.
I can still feel lonely with.
So many people around.
But I do...

Leave me alone
i feel your gaze upon my back
your shadow looming above
i won't look back
you've been there a while
your presence familiar
a feeling of cold dread
you feel closer than before
you've forgotten your place
or did I forget mine
I'm turned all around
which way was I going
your darkness surrounds
I follow the voices
there's warmth up ahead
I think I can make it
I know you're still there
but I have friends here
and work to do
Leave me alone!

I miss you
I miss you
I've typed and deleted a hundred times
The mouse cursor hovering over send
An unsent message of love
Like so many of our unspoken words
It holds such meaning
Such explosive potential
With deadly shrapnel
Of course there's always the chance
It's just another dud
Its inner workings rusted
Dated and beyond repair
It wouldn't be the first time
It means something to me
A thousand perfect memories
A thrum of kinetic and emotional energy
I miss you
Maybe I only write it for me
Not you ...

My turn
when is it my turn?
is it a selfish thing
to think about yourself
when the focus belongs to others
maybe, but who doesn't?
we're all guilty
however hard we work
to hide it behind thoughts and prayers
will it be soon?
it's so easy to ignore
basking in the warm sunlight
until someone else takes their go
do I have to take my turn?
there's so much to do
maybe no one will notice
if I sit this one out
is that what they thought?
it's irrelevant now
the game waits for no one ...

Something died
Something died in our flat last year
I still don't know what it was
I didn't notice anything at first
But you kept complaining about a stale smell
It got so bad you kept going outside for fresh air
I stayed indoors; I couldn't smell anything
And besides it was cold outside
It must have got worse
Because at one point you got fed up
You showed me where the smell was worst
It was coming from somewhere in your room
I suddenly got a waft of decay
And it turned my...
