POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I wanted to be able to live, but not hurt. I wanted to see, but not feel. I wanted to hear, but not care.
Mystery
Love is a mystery
The only thing that carelessly throws you from joy to misery
From light to dark
The only feeling that can physically affect your heart
Love can hold you together while tearing you apart
I don't get it
Love is a mystery.
The only thing that carelessly throws you from joy to misery
From light to dark
The only feeling that can physically affect your heart
Love can hold you together while tearing you apart
I don't get it
Love is a mystery.

Little Slice of Hell
The lights of this place are meant to draw you in
The glamor takes over in this City of Sin
Gamble away your life savings, but you'll never win
My own little slice of hell
Money, fast cars, and freedom
That's why they come here
Pretending for a while
That they're not who they were
But they never see the other side
My own little slice of hell
If you're trying to find yourself,
You've come to the wrong place
It's a little too high strung
And a little too fast paced
It's not the human walk,
It's called the human race
In my own...

I Need You Like a Heartbeat
I need you like I need my own heart.
I love you without even knowing why or how or when
I love you straightforwardly without complexities or pride;
So I love you because I know no other way than this
I know of a world where "I" does not exist
But neither does "you"
A world where only "we" exist.
So close that your arm around my waist feels like a part of me
Where your eyes begin to close as I fall asleep
So in sync.
You are like stardust in the summer
Or a massive burst of colors
And I want to inhale every tiny...

Stoplights
and we’re at the stoplight
passing hope around like
everything’s okay
minutes before midnight
laughing only on the outside
save me,
New Year’s Day
give me all the things taken away
taken away
dancing in the shadows of bonfires
modern middle class funeral pyres
benefit of the doubtful doubting less
what a wonderful, majestic mess
fella, I fall to the false idols
in and out of hell in endless cycles
creative killing of the will to survive
but it’s a thrill to try
passing hope around like
everything’s okay
minutes before midnight
laughing only on the outside
save me,
New Year’s Day
give me all the things taken away

Blame it all (I hope you understand)
I have grown to love you more than anything else
More than my sick and twisted self
Who needs therapy when I have you?
Just one more…
I’ll feel brand new
Blame it all on drugs
maybe and
Take the blame off us
I hope you understand
When I hold that gram in my hand, I feel this sudden rush.
One is never enough, and 20 is never too much
Grabbing onto my thoughts and killing all the pain
Benediction by injection, benediction all the same
I flew for a while.
High, but not beyond reach.
I spoke truths and lies
accepted...

Bully
Do you know how I feel?
When the feeling of their jaw against my fist fills me with pleasure..and the taste of black and blue just confirms I am the victor. They generate the smile on my face through the sadness in theirs. I absorb the tears from their eyes into the pores of my skin.
Bully.
I breathe in every scream that develops from their defenseless mouths.
Bully.
My words will fly from my lips and cut the mere idea of you in two.
Bully.
"Sticks and stones may break my bones" But my words...will kill you. And I'll make them believe that it's...

My Life
Why? The question most often heard in our society. “Why do you do that?” “Why are you this way?” or the phrase most often heard by frustrated mothers, “Why do you deliberately disobey me?!” We hear the question more often than we hear an actual answer. Most times, we just don’t know. Either that or we just don’t seem to care. But in this day and age, “I don’t know” isn’t a sufficient answer. “Just because” won’t please an angry mother. In fact it will probably just infuriate her.
I never really had the “ideal” family life. I was adopted at the age of six. I went to a family that...

Manage Me
Manage me,
I am a mess,
Swept under the rug of yesterday’s home improvement,
A whimsical urge tossed aside for the easy reassurance of home and comfort.
I am the photograph tucked away as a book-mark,
In a book left, half unread,
Once reopened to find memories crawling back into peripheral sight,
Faded, creased, and lonely.
I long to be admired,
Long to be held, torn, and laughed at,
Laughed with,
Like a distant relative or an old friend breathing in their last breath.
I missed the moment when time collapsed and memory was erased,
Replaced...
