The Winding Road
Overwhelmed to look ahead
In clay wind my legs start walking
Dust blows by to cover me red
Shield my eyes to find the way
Confusing arrows tease and point
In the cross road is where I stay
Overwhelmed and paralyzed
With racing thoughts I stand still
Standing and staring for days gone by
The winding road persuades and pleads
Straight ahead and fast you must go
My legs start walking without a thought
Rain gently washes my eyes clear
Now clean of red dust
Overwhelmed still, I collect my thoughts
Arrow to the left is what...

Dust blows by to cover me red
Shield my eyes to find the way
Confusing arrows tease and point

Sand Angels
Snow will soon cover
all things unable to move
The playground welcomes
the last visitors with open arms
The toys anchored to the ground
wait patiently for me to play
The square little box
beckons me to join her
Slowly I dip in my toes
and jump in
I fall happily and let the
sand play with me
We make Sand Angels
The crowd turns
to laugh and point
"You can't do that in the sand,
get up and go away, why
doesn't she know?"
As I stand to admire my Sand Angel
Her wings falling back into funny lumps
I smile as I...

My Doctor The Drug Dealer
You push your drugs and tell me it will be okay
Your pills lead my body into decay
Follow your rules and use as directed
Now rush me to the ER to get corrected
At discharge they explain Toxicity
All that little word means is
You're Fucking Killing me
My Doctors prescribed OD
Others to accept as tragedy
But by my own hand
They would not understand
So Mother Earth calls me
And gives me some freedom
My loved ones now say…
I guess she’s having a good day
So condemn me if you must
But now are the days ...

Tightrope Walker
High above on a cable
Do not fall to catch a label
Social conform will set me free
Behavior is the key
The rope makes me feel unstable
Feet walk slowly to keep me able
Shoes tread careful to enhance
Eyes straight ahead to keep my stance
Do the tricks you want to see
Otherwise I will pay the fee
Tightrope walker is my dance
The safety net if I fall by chance
Do not fall to catch a label
Social conform will set me free
Behavior is the key
The rope makes me feel unstable
Feet walk slowly to keep me able
Shoes tread careful to enhance
Eyes straight ahead to keep my stance
Do the tricks you want to see

What If
My body was on life support
I want to pull the plug and delete
White coats claimed I have a disease
A prescription of life I was given
I question their plan to proceed
Should I accept the new birth
To be an infant and start again?
The threat of hospitals in my head
I replay my life of wasted time
I am grieving for years gone by
Who am I? What was I?
Analyzing each action of my life
What if...
What if...
What if...
What if...
Doctors and meds for all my life
To tie all the pieces into place
Should I...

The Appeal
He drapes on the black robe
To become his own judge
His thoughts are his jury
The verdict must hurry
As the folded paper will reveal
Six feet under to conceal
As verdict reads his epitaph
"A life sentence as I laugh"
He left his note for all to see
And happily imagines his eulogy
A full crowd to mourn his death
He realizes years of life are still left
As his own judge
He decides to appeal
This sentence of death
He will not deal
To become his own judge
His thoughts are his jury
The verdict must hurry
As the folded paper will reveal
Six feet under to conceal
As verdict reads his epitaph
"A life sentence as I laugh"
He left his note for all to see
And happily imagines his eulogy
A full crowd to mourn his death
He realizes years of life are still left
As his own judge
He decides to appeal
