alignment; a twin with a mirror
I am one on my own,
I am complete as I am,
I am him, and he is me.
he is my equal,
he is my everything,
he is me, and I am him.
we are wanting,
we are worthy,
we are balanced when whole.
sun lead and moon guided,
where one ends the other begins.
we are two parts of one soul.

narcissist in my house II; the end
he doesn't want to see outside himself, nor does he want to do anything that doesn't benefit him.
he doesn't care enough about himself to have the capacity to care for others.
he was never taught the inherent value of ... and he refuses to learn.
he hates me because he ain't me.
he thrived when I struggled because it gave the illusion we were equal.
he always knew I was better than him, and now he knows I know.
instead of leaving or leveling up he rode my coattails and hoped for the best.
I will not treat him as he treats me.

astray in the woods
if a tree falls but there's no one to hear it, does it make a sound?
if you cry out but there's no one around, does it count?
the forest can't be seen for the trees, yet I'm lost within the leaves.
I am, a broken tree, fighting for a life of ease.

fly mama fly
daddy's little girl,
mommy's mirror image.
sissy's best friend,
everyone, everywhere's make pretend.
conceal, don't feel,
trust no one with what's real or for appeal.
is it nature or nurture,
generational or just culture?
things to do and places to be,
no one can ever, question my loyalty.
expect nothing, minimalize requests,
don't be a burden, shrink to fit.
the picture of juxtaposition;
abrasive yet gentle,
frenzied and composed,
enticing but off-putting.
weak, codependent, insignificant,...
mommy's mirror image.

narcissist in my house
he feels like I forced him to live how he did, and since everything is officially his now he can decide how I live.
he feels if I don't agree and/or give him what he wants he'll just evict me at mine and my children's detriment.
he feels he's being nice enough to let me remain here financially free while disregarding the choices he made that got us here in the first place.
he feels if I don't cooperate it's my fault if I get evicted.
but he does not want me to leave, he just wants to control my existence.
I am woman, I am worthy, I will...

or the reminder of an impending anniversary?
does it bring to mind that near fatal January day?
are you happy you ultimately stayed?
you were 17,
you had been adopted at 2,
you moved every 4 years,
you were recently diagnosed with bipolar.
stability and consistency were long gone concepts,
drugs found you along the way,
loneliness was the only view,
you felt pathetic while your mother wept.

reach for the stars,
watch for the moon,
she'll guide you through.
under the opaque sky,
in the quiet of night,
you'll hear her sweet laugh on the breeze.
her light pulls you towards the comfort of the forest,
as if to remind you,
there's strength in numbers.
venture forward,

catch the aroma in the air,

my mom was mentally abusive;
she built me up to be a strong, independent, black, woman,
then spent every moment she could tearing me down for being just that.
she made me fear who I am.
I ran as far away as I could, all the way to Florida; I immersed myself in college as much as possible.
I had no job, no car, and no money but I was determined to have friends and the social life I craved but was denied during childhood.
I didn't realize my parents and high school friendships had already set a pattern into place.
a pattern that set the groundwork for...
