Cataract
Cataract
The glare, the focus of the trees brings comfort to the ribs.
They're there, they're there, the blood told me so.
I hid in a thorn bush to avoid drowning but I got stuck.
My smile's not changed, it's just bigger.
Bigger is better, they say.
I used to flood and drain like a cataract.
So easily pushed, so easily pulled back.
I hung pictures up on my beating heart
Just to reflect and hide what was really going on.
I used to breathe in the air of cataracts.
Now I burn these pictures and watch the flame pull back.

Mermaid
Mermaid
Again, again, I have flooded again,
And I'm that mermaid washed on the shore.
Again, I bleed. Again, I die.
But I swear to my kingdom that I'm alright.
I'll still reign with no tears but I smile, I smile.
Hey, can I see you again?
You made my tears forget themselves.
Hey, can you see me again?
You see, I've broken down again because I hate myself.
I'm the only one who can help myself,
But won't you see me again?
I'd love to walk, I'd love to run,
But I can only stand as I gasp for air.
Again, I cry silently today,...
Again, again, I have flooded again,
And I'm that mermaid washed on the shore.
Again, I bleed. Again, I die.
But I swear to my kingdom that I'm alright.
I'll still reign with no tears but I smile, I smile.

Oh My God
Oh My God
Blue eyes left her just because her bones had no skin.
That's why she breaks a crystal ball every time she sees one in the sky.
Her fingernails get clipped by the pliers in her mouth.
Lucid rooms tend to help her out.
Oh my God, will you cut the noise?
Oh my God, will you turn the light on?
It's dark, it's cold, it's sad.
And I, my dear, don't want to cry.
Oh my God, this is so stupid.
Just stop tiring yourself.
Yesterday she wished she'd die but she didn't choose her words carefully.
So everybody left and she doesn't...

Flicker
Flicker
A large light flashed like it knew something,
So her eyes grew dark and swampy.
"Something like a withered shadow," they say she became.
She disappears, though, at the touch of pain.
Flicker, flicker, she goes back and forth between minds.
No disorder, nothing but a lack of decent pills.
Flicker, flicker, she goes back and forth between ideas.
She goes back and forth between everything.
Everything to her seems to flicker like a lampshade.
And she sits and wonders...

Dirty Laundry
Dirty Laundry
Ropes are not meant to write names on breathless throats.
Pills, too, not able to give you purpose as you float.
And you float with smoke.
Your boy really thinks he's dope.
So he throws dirt, but that doesn't make you dirt.
You say you're clean but you're still hurt.
Push me to the edge, spit acid in my veins, do whatever you want.
Try to make me jump, but I won't.
You can abuse me, but don't you ever use me.
I'm not the type of girl who picks her fights carefully.

Blanket
Blanket
I fucking can't get you out of my mind,
I don't know why,
But what I know is I breath just to find something.
Something like a spice in my life to stop the anxiety.
Something rad that won't trap me in a plastic bag.
Insomniac without doors to the outside world.
I fight like a warrior girl.
My tongue's sewn down,
And my heartbeat's surround sound.
I need comforting because I'm always lonely.
But you don't know that, you don't need that.
I'm sorry I couldn't be...

Acrylic
Silver crisp hair and ruby eyes
With thin lips that tend to lie
Are the only reason air slides between my decaying teeth.
It's like I'm walking on my knees.
The ground is hard.
It's cold like it's freezing.
Goldfish swim in the glass bowl that's stopped in my chest.
Secrets, they learn--oh, shit.
Sh, we don't talk about that.
My skin is being ripped from the thread of my bones.
The skeleton's have arrived.
I've got some rattling in my closet.
I've got skeleton ribs between my eyes.
I've got skeletons and I'm one too.
Yeah, I...

Native Tribute
Words tell us how to feel,
Is that really what you claim?
Actions are thrown out and ignored.
The good ones tend to go.
What if all the roads were drenched in scarlet letters?
Doesn't that mean we're all lost?
I can't bear the thought of losing what I pretend to hate again.
This heart doesn't know what it wants.
Settle yourselves at half past 3 AM after you tuck your kids to bed.
Don't you dare show weakness because then they have to live with that.
Your heart slaughters all who come into contact.
Bad habits are hard to break when you grow...

Descend
Daisies grow within the saddest parts of me.
Ocean waves plunge into my soul.
That's happy, happy.
I've got my sundress on.
"Good morning," you say.
"I love you," you say.
No, no, no.
Descend with me, descend with you.
You, you.
Descend with you, you, you.
Stay with me, though I'm a liar.
Stay with me, though I'm not perfect.
Turn on the stereo, oh, oh.
Stay and descend,
Send, send you love.
Chain smoke and put my hair...
Ocean waves plunge into my soul.
That's happy, happy.
I've got my sundress on.
"Good morning," you say.
"I love you," you say.
No, no, no.
Descend with me, descend with you.
You, you.

Old & Special
She said she had a very rough day,
Needs a little something to take it all away.
Needs a smoke, needs a drink.
No one, no one, no one to help her stop thinking.
Light the way like you light the green.
Light the way like you say what you mean.
But all she sees are alleyways,
All she sees are cornstalks that help her find her way.
Oh, she's lost.
She just inhales, inhales, inhales,
She just inhales, inhales to forget the thought of
Something old and special,
Something old and special that's now nothing.
Nothing.
What happened?...
Needs a little something to take it all away.
Needs a smoke, needs a drink.
No one, no one, no one to help her stop thinking.
Light the way like you light the green.

2004
Wind blows on the phone.
There's no reason to go home tonight.
Fall to dream with only your own arms tonight.
It's only midnight in the city but you'll be fine.
But they won't miss you, you say.
Let's paint rain, we are what we create.
In that case, let's create a new god.
One that is real, we need something believable.
I like to think that clouds remember people like us.
And I want to believe elementary wasn't a bust.
But then I'm no different from everyone else.
There's no fun in that.
But a prison of a room and no questions of where...

Everything Drifts
Three years now yet I continue to hold half a plate in my mouth.
One side mouths off to the reflection and hides in a plastic house,
While the other walks out and faces the world while it's still ten after nine.
I say "have a nice day" to my solid eyes.
And make sure the world in everyone else's mind is alright.
And I slap on a fake smile and say to them:
"Hey, oh, nobody knows but depression has its way to go.
You see, Robin Williams and Marilyn Monroe don't have to know,
But roller coasters drift up and they drift low,
But then again,...
