THE DREAMY WINTER SINGS
DREAMY winter singing winds
-- I hear their chorus tonight
As laughing tendril-finger snows
click and dance in dipping ice-flows
upon my furnace-spice lips
What B-flat notes are tripping
running -- stripping
across key-minor hearts...
Oh, so vying are your spasms
-- my destined lust-bombs
exploding fire
-- blue and green
reflection across the frozen
river of our hearts...
Comes the ice
and mixing fire
into the cauldron
of our lives

SECOND SPRING
IT was upon the burst of autumn
those explosions of color
when your spirit and body
seeped into my empty soul
Autumn, the second spring for me now
my heart -- a blooming flower
My soul before your grace embraced
a bare branch against the wind
Never believing this river again would flow
frozen before I met your lovely face
So delicious your autumn spring of spice
each bare leaf a swollen flower
I tremble in your presence as you sway
upon my rock this and every day

EROS (DO NOT FLEE FROM ME) – Part 1
My adventure began upon this damp and chilling night
as homes of many lowered their shades to kill the light
and sullen souls lay down for bed -- so weary a sight!
Some common sense was telling me
I ought to follow suit in place of plight
While conviction -- that solid and shiny compass
melted away the color pale and heavy fright
But that night my plan was nothing more than this:
to find the house of that primordial god EROS no less
after Chaos, Gaia, and Tatarus he was born but for I --
as I for him this night -- ...

DREAMING I AWOKE
LAST night I awoke
within my dream
nothing seemed wrong --
at least for me
I lived a full life
while visiting you see
and many years past --
one day I fell to sleep
when I awoke again
I still remained
my wife of years
by my side hugging me
winter came so many
years henceforth
wrinkled and aching
my bones screamed
but my wife did not awake
so she remained
my last sleep
I clearly remember --
a dream so deep
that when I again awoke
I found myself alone
with youth...
within my dream

POSITANO
WE stay -- our hearts together
in Positano on the Amalfi coast
on top a precious hill --
we can see Le Galli islands
i -- with a bottle of wine
you -- show me your soul
we drink in praise of love
pastel colored houses smile
and flowers dance our songs
the stars -- in the evening sing
Positano beneath my feet
on the coast clear waters
lay under the sun -- pebble and sand
we know this place from another time
our past is found in Grotta la Portal
hidden in cave -- two hands embrace
...

LOVE IN VESUVIUS
YOU met my heart along the rim
of Vesuvius -- that night we shared
sangria and fell in love
like a fragrance within my heart
you changed the tone to light from dark
nothing but violins and a silky night
storms and turmoil came too soon for us
floods, ice, winds and tidal waves
nature kissed us goodbye in her own way
hours into days and months into years
showers in may and oceans of tears
fate twisted chance one particular day
We politely said hello in a hollow way
you bit your lip - I coughed a heart...

YOU STOOD BY THE WINDOW
YOU stood by the window within your soul you cried
knowing that beginnings always have endings
you were always the positive one - but today life wins
the rain came down and the sun hidden behind tears
flowers, Mozart, and a red wine kissed you gently
death comes to those who have the strongest hearts
we pay the price for love every second of our lives
in the skies the gods smile down and say to us --
there's no such thing as a free lunch in this world
but this is my heart bleeding for you - down on my knees
why, you ask, do you...

UP SHOULD be go and down should be stop
fitting the ways into a lazy day I say
bouncing thoughts betray simple ways
laughing zebras skipping town on a tram

DARKNESS EMBRACED
DARKNESS EMBRACED
I WALKED into darkness and she embraced me
all the while her eyes kept looking for weakness
I stayed for a while and shared a cup of tea
I politely told her that I could only stay
for 4 or 5 years and not a day more -- you see
it was enough for her if enough for me
on the last day darkness wept to lose a friend
but I embraced her cold hands and kissed her lips
and said I loved her melancholy but must leave to live
