POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I've been writing poetry for years, reading it for longer and I love reading in general. When I have a pen, paper and a quiet corner of the world to pour forth my ramblings, it seems i want for nothing more.
Loves Eternal Light
Nothingness, this black timeless void.
Nothing, but emptiness and quiet.
No shadows live in eternal night;
Conquering all, no sound or sight.
Yet beyond, His glory broods,
Loving planning as only He could.
Setting in motion with unfathomable might
The triumphant glare of resplendent light.
A place of beauty, mystery, chance;
The seeds of knowledge in our hands.
The first temptation now in sight;
Come. Let’s know what’s wrong and right.
Many years of corruption and sinning
Have washed away the time for living.

Dark is the Night
The night steals in
Silently,
Without a whisper,
Bringing with it
Gloomy shadows and
Twisted, menacing images.
Deep into my consciousness they embed,
Sowing seeds of imaginings and dark
Forebodings.
Like abstract paintings upon my periphery
And cobwebs moving in every corner,
Silhouettes dash by
Silently in the corners of my eyes;
Fleeting glimpses of those without mass; without form.
But I fear them not.
With the daylight they are gone
Back from where they came,
Waiting patiently to visit again...and again.

I am
Finding me hasn’t been easy.
I have been well hidden
Like a pearl in the proverbial oyster
Tucked far away beyond prying eyes.
Like a simple thought
That breaks the bonds of writer’s block,
One that lays the foundation of a well-written poem
Or piece of prose,
I have been discovered.
Menacingly, tantalizingly
The layers of life are peeled away.
The cultural conditioning,
Society’s moulding biases,
The beleaguered thought processes,
The psychosis, the neurosis,
The empathy, the failed attempts, the successes,

Ego
Watch how in comes marching in
As you open your morning eyes
And assess the late, late night
And your battle-hungry cries.
Watch how it slithers and writhes
Beneath your mind's skin;
Constantly poised to do battle
Against your timeless spirit within.
Let not your guard fall down
Lest you fill yourself to the brim
With the hatreds and the judgements
And all other things that they call sin.
I’ve seen it snuggle up
And I’ve seen it force its way in
Where Beauty and Truth doth reign;
Only to be dethroned again.

The Butterfly and the Star
I’ve become acquainted with the butterfly
And with the Evening Star.
Their lives are one you see;
Together, though near and far.
But where do I belong, and how?
Ah, the butterfly and the star,
Oblivious to each other,
Know not emotion; they simply are.
If only she could tell me
Of all the things she’s done,
Of everything she’s seen
Careening ‘cross the sun.
But delicate butterflies
Are lost on an autumn breeze
And the star-the miracle of stars-
Sees not, but must be seen.

Polishing Stones
Her eyes are wide with innocence
As they invite me into her world.
Hand in hand, we make our way to the beach
Amid the seaweed and the driftwood and the garbage
As we carefully step among the debris,
Seagulls protest our midnight arrival.
In the drunkenness of our youth
The Storms of Life are mythical
And God is but a smoldering ember
Waiting for the wind to blow;
So far away are calamity and He,
Tonight, it is pleasantly calm,
Like the fragrant ocean to which we escape.
Hills cloaked in darkness

The Gathering Shadows
The shadows are all around you
And the light is hard to see;
And those easy comfortable feelings
Are but a distant memory.
When your feeble aching body
Has taken all it can,
And it seems to you all hope is lost,
I shall take you by the hand.
I shall never let you go
And, as I look into your eyes,
May you see the burning hope
And find solace deep inside.
I want to lead you to a place of peace
That only you can see;
And I hope your way will be easier
If you put your trust in me.
I’ve prayed for you a thousand...

How Long Will I Remember Thee?
Til summer’s sundrenched lilies lay
Strewn about in quiet disarray
And His sweet nectar from His clouds
Refuses to prod them tall and proud.
‘Til His perpetual work doth cease
And summer’s fragrance opposes the breeze;
No songbird, no insects, no hurrying bees
And whispers no longer inhabit the trees.
‘Til darkness falls and stays forever
And the sun’s luminous rays surrender
And rusty clouds the moon surround,
On me thine impression will still abound.
‘Til rivers no longer embrace the sea

The Light of Other Days
Travelling through the void
Of empty space and time,
Comes the light of other days
And with it, her presence.
From another world she comes;
I know not where it is,
I only know she walks my dreams.
As her eyes blaze through my night,
She drifts near me, lighting up my world,
And in them, I see forever.
Her lips are moist like the morning dew.
Her smile sends beams of white light through me
Piercing my frail armour; into my soul.
Her face fills my sky; she is inside of me.
Her warm embrace melts my heart
And I am lost to this...

You Are The Soft Reflection Of Nature
The sweetest words that ever my heart enchanted
Stills my woe and a more gentle ‘I’ embark;
For that which can traverse ten thousand years
Stands forcefully against erosion of my heart.
Like haggard tongue, the finest wine from years
Lifts my thirst as eyes befriend the dark,
Then senses mirth filled and groggy
Find solace against an unrelenting parch.
Jubilant lilacs blooming under summer’s breath;
It is this my sense fully craves
And, enthralled by their contentment,
These alone move me, more compassionate I behave.

The Energy of Life
Let go of the thoughts
That race through my mind
And patiently wait
For the stillness inside.
A connection to peace
Dwells within;
With a quiet mind
My journey begins.
My body null
And wonderfully void
As I seep through the walls
That hold back the quiet.
Blissfully lost
As I move past my mind
And enter the gap;
Become one with the Divine.
Instantly molten
As I seamlessly blend
With the energy of life;
No beginning, no end.
I am fire and ice
I am the blackness of night
