Someone Else
When I look in the mirror
Why do I always see
The reflection of a woman
That I wish was not me
My face is not right
All I see are the flaws
The negative, the bad
I have nothing good at all
Too short for my weight
Too fat for my height
My clothes never fit
I can't get anything right
I diet and run
All to no avail
I am crushed when the numbers
Laugh at me from the scales
I will never be a girl
That anyone wants to see
I am ashamed I let others
Take happiness from me

Time for Never
It is 2am and I am wide awake
Can't shut down my racing thoughts
How much more can I take
Sometimes it's all my fault
The more my mind wanders
Deeper in anxiety I fall
Unable to regain control
I am slowly killing us all
Got to do this
But not until that
Is there ever an end
Help is all I ask
Reliving past hurts
Fearing new ones in the future
Scared of right now
I am fading much sooner
Struck down by reality
I am only getting older
Destined for failure
Young love is really over ...

The funny feeling you have inside
Is me thinking of you
Sending smiles and hugs your way
Hoping you're thinking of me too
I would love to come and porch sit
Just to hold your hand
We could talk for hours and reminisce
About things no one else could understand
We could laugh and enjoy sweet muffins
Chicken and biscuits, too
What I wouldn't give to be able to kiss your lips
And spend a little time with you

In my youth - a look back
You're sitting with the means to an end
A bottle of pills, or a razor in your hand
Wondering why no one understands
The pain you're keeping locked inside
Is tearing you up, making you want to die
Thoughts of suicide dance in your mind
You want to leave this old world behind
You feel as though it has nothing to give
What you really can't see

Sometimes I stare towards Heaven
Watch the stars shine through the night
I pretend it’s you smiling at me
I wish everything was alright
I can’t look back at memories
Without breaking down inside

Masterpiece
The stars are filling up the dark
Blinding flashing light
It would have been something beautiful
Had her heart not been filled with fright
Stunning colors slowly appear
Purples, yellows, greens, and blues
It would be an incredible canvass of art
If it were not part of her that bruised
The artist perfects his medium
Adding and mixing liquid colors smooth
Drink it down, one by one
He is the artist – this he must prove
To perfect his art of painting
He fine tunes his array of skills
Frenzied with every stroke of his brush ...

An Old High School Memory
It's been so many years
Since I thought about our time
Laughing all day at school
Whispering on the phone all night
Waiting patiently to see you
Every car sounded like yours
Every time, I would run and take
A hopeful peek outside the door
And then at last it was you
I knew your smile from miles away
It was so easy to see it shine
When I saw it every day
Time went by, you had to go
But said I am coming back for you
Days, months, then years passed by
And not a single promise was true ...
Since I thought about our time
Laughing all day at school

We built our house of cards with love
At first, it withstood the wind
Ever so slowly, one by one
The cards began to shift
When I think of all the years gone by

Only the Past
How do I do this
On my own
What once was our haven
Is not even a home
I take my blame
Though not all was me
But if that's what you say
I'll just let it be
I don't know what happened
Or maybe I do
What once was love
Is no longer true
Time has not been kind
I felt alone too long
Living in the same house
Happiness is gone
When you start that walk
Don't ever look back
There will be nothing for you
I will only live in your past

If you stand on the edge of forever
Then where are all your thoughts
Like dying, they always pass together
In the present, time and reality are false
When my past memory finds forever
And in our hearts the passion is lured
It constructs my future for you to see
And know this soul connection is pure
When I feel trapped between the hands of time
Can I just let go as present becomes the past
Focus closer and miss the surface
And recall what made you and I the aftermath
Then where are all your thoughts

When I hear the whispers
i don't want to hesitate
or even try to reconcile
the timeless desire we make
In love nothing knows shame
to try to hinder that connection
I revel in you and your energy
Melting into your thoughts and reflections
i feel as though my hunger
must take you on a ride
Make you shiver again
so that we can do it all inside
in you i long to hear
all you want to caress and see
feeling a touch that burns

When did you steal my heart
I think you know the truth
I need to get back that feeling
Like flying high above the moon
In silence I hear the message
And if you hear it too
I think you can capture it
In this I do believe it’s true
I always try to send my love
But sometimes sneaking out of the blue
Those feelings of water in rushing falls
My name in different hues
To give to you my heart’s castle wall
Your love to me is brand new
I think you know the truth
I need to get back that feeling
