POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Paper and Stone
I want a home
Not of paper, but stone.
Could you possibly know what I mean?
Your eyebrows scrunch over linoleum irises
And my collar reaches round to strangle me
I huff and I puff
And these bloodless paper walls
Begin to shiver.
Claws pounding asphalt
And I am far,
Already too far.
My hurricane is just a breeze
Pushing paper sails down paper seas.
I wonder if my house will have windows
Or doors
With heavy locks.
I wonder if the locks
Are already waiting for me,
Or if I’ll...
Not of paper, but stone.
Could you possibly know what I mean?
Your eyebrows scrunch over linoleum irises
And my collar reaches round to strangle me
I huff and I puff
And these bloodless paper walls
Begin to shiver.
Claws pounding asphalt
And I am far,
Already too far.
My hurricane is just a breeze
Pushing paper sails down paper seas.
I wonder if my house will have windows
Or doors
With heavy locks.
I wonder if the locks
Are already waiting for me,
Or if I’ll...
