Bright ray of sunlight/illuminates winter path./This is your sweet smile
Buds spring from cold dirt/joyous tidings of springtime./This is your keen mind
Wind in the branches/herald of sweet summer rain./This is your loud laugh
Autumn mountain brooks/softly carry stones to sea./These are your kind hands
You are the seasons/I am ground beneath your feet/We are always new
I love you

SELF POEM

The world can wait
I could not endure the world
So
I had it come to me.
Hour upon hour I sank into nether
Observing what was on the screen
Lives that I have never known
And will never know again
Flashed across my consciousness
Like thunder
Like light
Like primordial blackness personified.
I came up for air once or twice
But sank deep once again into the shadowy fathoms.
The tentacles of permanence, writhing through my body, my mind
They offered succor, sanctuary.
I'd never have to endure again.
As I considered,
My eyes opened ...
So
I had it come to me.

Love and Growth
To love another person takes some guts
A willingness to die a hundred times
To shatter from five thousand papercuts
Then smile with bleeding heart and say “I’m fine”
Yet shattered mirror that is love reflects
Upon unuséd heartstrings not yet strung,
And filling in the chasms thus connects
With liquid gold the pieces, and rehung
Formation, painful, thus allows rebirth
A chance to change, to shape a shape anew
More beautiful, resilient. Tis worth
The pain, the scars. Your worth may yet accrue
So let your cracks take...

An Ode To The First Sip
Libation; to that word I make a toast
From sorrow, grave, to jocularity
I raise my glass towards my gracious host
And take my first great sip of scalding tea
The anodyne to all my earthly woes
And though I sup of coffee time to time
I gulp its healing nectar and compose
My head and heart to make another rhyme
