Speak
They say when a baby learns to talk the next thing to teach is 'how to be quiet'
Because children need to be seen and not heard
We teach then to be quiet when adults are speaking
Be quiet when you are being spoken too
Be quiet this is 'grown folks' business
Be stay in a child's place
BE QUIET BE QUIET BE QUIET
But what happens when that little girl becomes an adult?
Shes quiet when her boyfriend yells at her
She says nothing when he throws her to the floor
Her heart is screaming 'save me' but her lips don't move
She's quiet because her words are...

Addiction
Take my pen, shoot me up; I need a hit.
My addiction being the repetition of verses, commas and semi colons, all written in cursive
Big deep into my heart; the more pages you turn the more pain you'll learn
Cause I get high off my words, my verbs and pronouns
Onomatopoeia's... words that make sounds
Creativity being the outlet to my reality more like insanity; The bullshit we live in
How do you survive?
I got my pen

SOS
I walked in the ocean and you said that you'd follow; I just wanted to cool off you make me hot.
Water up to my shins I scream "its fine, jump in"
No answer. Imma just keep walking..
Sand between my toes...
I slipped on a sea shell, I yell to you
No answer... Can you help me?
Drifting off into the water, I can't seem to catch a grip further out I go.
Do you see me?
I'm sinking.
These waves are too strong.
Water is filling my lungs.
Are you there?
I can't breathe.
Help me.
No longer can I see the shore.
Come....

Love Is
The irony of love is,
Everybody 'loves' but nobody knows what it is
The irony of love is,
I love you but...
That feeling in your gut, you can't explain
Everything all twisting and turning, flip flopping heart stopping
Love.
The one whom no one comes above
Love.
The touch, that feeling when you look at me, you know its real cuz its 'love'
Passion and sweat, tears and feat that the love will one day disappear
The reality of love is the actuality of the insanity that is place upon ones soul
When i'm not with you im not whole,
If imma fool...

Chains
These chains on my wrists; you placed when you said I love you
These chains on my feet; you locked and threw away the key
These chains on my heart;they broke it apart
The tears I hold back in fear of getting attacked
But it's all a flash back.
See that was years ago but you wouldn't know
From the way i walk and talk
When somebody loves me, I can't let them come near, because of what I fear
The angry eyes and those thrusting thighs
In between breathes you scream "that's mine"
I thought I left it behind but in real time
Those tears I still...

Like our bodies never were two sweaty vessels, like I never gave you what I don’t give to many
Like I never told you my inner most secrets, sealed with a kiss; you swore you would keep it
How can you walk around like we never happened?
Like our love was invalid?
Like everything we did was one sided, those two sides of my heart divided
You say you’re happy now but she’ll never love you like I did.

I can vividly remember the day I found myself. The day I woke up. The day I became the Leah I am today. I was 16 and a junior in high school. I had a boyfriend who graduated the year before, now in college. My family hated him; they said he was too old for me. They were right. They only saw what I allowed them to see. No one else saw the pain I was dealing with, not even my friends. There was only one person whom I had allowed to witness my agony and that was my best friend DeeDee. She was the only person who knew about the mental, emotional, and sexual abuse I was experiencing.

Crazy
I am madly in love with a man who doesn't exist. Or maybe he does, I don't know I'm crazy as it is.
You scooped me up at the coffee shop downtown, and from then on you were always around.
Brought me flowers, chocolates, love letters the whole nine, and I was mesmerized by that sparkle in your eyes
You loved me and I adored you, my friends, parents, even my cats loved you.
I gave you my everything and it just magical. I was just a grinnin' look at my man I knew I had won and one year later God blessed us with a son.
But when the baby came things began to change, you were...

Imagination
We live in a fictional universe built off of what we want it to be
But we're too blind to see
What's right in front of us
Life is what we're running from
Dealing with the situations that arise from the complications from the infatuations in which we imagine..
If we just all sit back and face the fact that
We cannot run from what we become...
We are who we are, it is what it is, if we just
accept what we cannot change, we'll realize
that life is not a game
For there is no prize at the finish line but in due time we'll find
Peace.
But we're too blind to see
